Even if you say it's convenience (only if you ignore the drive there + back + wait + tip), I can literally just make one of those nice heat and serve meals they sell at costco and it tastes better than 90% of restaurant meals in the convenience of my home for a third the cost. It feels like quality has gone way downhill in the past decade or so. You wait an hour for a seat, damn near another hour for your food, price gouged to hell, and mandatory tip. Is doing dishes really that hard for people?

Even a lot of the fancier restaurants, it feels like you really have to convince yourself the food is actually good, when you know deep down you'd honestly rather just be sitting at home eating a sandwich.

The only restaurants worth going to are local ethnic or mexican joints or purely for a social occasion.

Your pic looks kinda gross.
Fancy restaurants usually serve something like that (that was squid pate under blue orchid gel with net made of squid ink, dunno about other garnish).

I've been to hundreds of restaurants in my life including dozens and dozens of fancy ones. Only like 5-10% of them are actually worth it, and only then on rare occasions. If you eat out at least once a week you are probably retarded

Then don't fucking go.
Also, don't make retarded threads about it. Problem solved.

You waste 2-3 hours at a restaurant between driving, waiting to be seated, and waiting for food just for overpriced mediocre food. I'm just wondering why?

the only time I have ever been in a restaurant for more than 1 hour is when I go with a large group of people.

>>19491009
all the restaurants in my area are within 15 minutes driving. I have rarely had to wait longer than 5 minutes to be seated at ANY restaurant. food prices are not and issue for me, and the only time the food is mediocre is when I go to a mediocre restaurant which I don't do anymore. the longest I have had to wait for food in the last several years was about 20 minutes.

you must have shitty restaurants where you live.

also no

where are you eating? in 40+ years of eating at restaurants I have never had to wait more than 15 minutes to be seated, and only once did I wait an hour for food because the place was so busy they forgot they seated us, and comped our meals.
>price gouged to hell, and mandatory tip. Is doing dishes really that hard for people?
I have yet to see a mandatory tip for small parties of customers.

I love to cook but I also like the freedom to enjoy good food without effort. eating out is a great experience.

I know were you are getting at. You take a chance on a place you've never been to, or you try something new on the menu and it's a disappointment that you then have the ignominy of paying for.
These are usually tied in with other activities like dates, sightseeing, going to a show etc..
All I can say is "such is life". You take a chance, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.
The alternative is to never go out, or just go to that one restaurant that you liked and order the exact same thing every time

>just go to that one restaurant that you liked and order the exact same thing every time
This is what I do. Go to Five Guys once a week, get the same thing every time. Go to local Mexican place roughly once a month, cycle between 2-3 menu items.

Usually whenever I try something new it's terrible. Vast majority of fast food and restaurants are not worth it at all.
