There is no fucking way it has the claimed 8k SHU, that's barely hotter than a jalapeno.

spicy but not absurdly spicy, like hot but not ghost chilli vindaloo hot

>> No.19485558

For me it was definitely above the level where spices were still enjoyable, but nothing that makes you scream. The lip burn was the worst of it all and made me have to take small breaks (normally I eat quite fast).
The issue is that if you prepare it according to instructions (draining the cooking water) the spicy sauce is really thicc so it coats your mouth well. I think I made it once with leaving the water in (basically the normal broth type ramen), and it was not nearly as bad because it didn't stick to my mouth and lips.

Aside from the spicyness while eating it, I actually felt it in my stomach for a day (not painful, just a weird feeling). Also the shits weren't nearly as painful as some faggots make them out to be, maybe they all have anal fissures or something... Other than that nothing special.

I agree that the dish is much spicier if you keep the soup, which is why I substituted the water base in the instructions for actual homemade broth so that I could keep as much of the flavor as I can with the noodles. It takes up the heat of the sauce in the pack much better than just using topping ingredients alone with water base. Making stock from poultry is easy and I hate wasting a good bird anyways, so I'll boil off enough to make 5 bowls worth, which is just perfect.

Have you had a decent quality hot sauce using ghost peppers (bhut jolokia) and habanero as its base mash? Its considerably less hot than that. I would say if you have no spice tolerance, its a hard 9/10, if you are used to very spicy food and peppers its more like a 5/10.

I think the 2x tastes significantly spicier than Jalapenos as well.

I tried to look into actual scoville rating of Jalapenos, and it seems like they're all over the place, but very frequently "spicier" than the 2x according to their SHU. The newer formulation of 2x is 10k SHU, while Jalapenos regularly exceeded that by quite a bit.
I do eat raw Jalapenos really regularly and rarely find them noticeably spicy, while the 2x noodles were seriously a challenge to eat and too spicy to enjoy.
These noodles are *maybe* as spicy as the spiciest jalapenos I've eaten. I don't want to dismiss the 10k rating as inaccurate though, since I'm sure they'd love to advertise a higher number. Maybe the temperature and oiliness makes a big difference.
