Eggs don't need to be flipped. As the FPBP said, this often will pop your yolk unnecessarily. It can also get more butter or oil on your egg than necessary (on both sides) and make the texture too firm for some people. The yolk doesn't need to be cooked through, but I think most people will agree that the whites should not be runny when served. Most people will accomplish this with a lid.

That said, I do flip my eggs, and I also pop the yolks.
