Who the fuck throws it on their front lawn? You save tin cans or glass jars (superior, since they have lids - old pickle or pasta sauce jars are useful) every so often and put the used oil or grease into that and then dispose of it in the garbage when the can gets full or smelly.

Pouring it down the drain is a retard move because the pipes will inevitably clog. If you own your home (I doubt most on 4chan do though) and the pipes clog on your property, you are obliged to pay for repairs. If you rent, then the landlord has to do it and they may increase your rent to help pay for the cost. If they clog in the street, then your municipality has to eventually dig up the street, dig trenches, pull out old pipe and replace it, fill it back in and then pave the street back up. That's not only annoying and time consuming, but it's going to cost your town/city a fortune to constantly do. Guess who pays for that one? You do as well.

These companies exist all over, so I'm sure there are a few legitimate ones that run good accounts, but it turns out it was just some hippy dude that never picked it up with any schedule, and well over half of it was eventually dumped anyway.
