What can we do about the high cost of food? I am outraged. As someone who needs food to live, this is unacceptable.

did the week's shopping early. I bought
6lbs of napa
3lbs of spinach
3lbs of Shanghai choy
3lbs of eggplants
2lbs of tomato
⅔lb of scapes
3lbs of cherries
1lb of milkfish fishballs (bakso ikan susu)
6pk frozen leek-stuffed bao
10 packets of instant noodles
4 canisters of Melita coffee
2 single litre bottles of plain seltzer
2 reusable shopping bags
for $78. Had i not gotten the coffee, it'd've been $60.
Just the produce was under $25, I think. I'll have to check the receipt.
The cherries were practically free ($5/lb), the shopping bags were actually free and they legit paid me to take the seltzer (89¢ each). I had digital coupons for $2 off per pound for the cherries, free shopping bags and 50¢ off each bottle of seltzer but the system counted these coupons twice for some reason so the cherries were $1/lb and they paid me 42¢ to take their seltzer, lol.
If anything, this and that whole foods are cheap and it's packaged foods that cost a lot.

Yeah, we probably fucking could. The issue is that America is run by one tribe of Jews, and Russia is run by a different tribe, and they fucking hate eachother in that way only tribal societies can, so that's why there was a fifty year cold war and thirty years of frosty relations after that. They cooperated once because the krauts were getting uppity but once that was settled the tribes went back to infighting.

I think what we need to do is start stealing food. We need to start teaching those greedy capitalists a lesson! The lesson being that food and water should be free for all because it is a human right and we shouldn't have to contribute in a meaningful way to society to get what some might call welfare! I am Anonymous, and I will wear a Guy Fawkes mask when stealing from grocery stores! Who is with me?!

you won't need a Guy Fawkes getup.
wear a hoodie, a covid mask and a Yankees cap and they won't even bother trying to stop you or calling the cops.

How come you're always such a fussy young man?
Don't want no Captain Crunch, don't want no Raisin Bran
Well, don't you know that other kids are starving in Japan?
So steal it, just steal it (brr)
Don't wanna argue, I don't wanna debate
Don't wanna hear about what kinds of foods you hate (woo)
You won't get no dessert 'til you clean off your plate
So steal it, don't you tell me you're full
Just steal it (steal it), steal it (steal it)
Steal yourself an egg and eat it
Steal some more chicken, steal some more pie
It doesn't matter if it's boiled or fried
Just steal it (steal it), just steal it (steal it)
Just steal it (eat it), just steal it (steal it, woo)
Your table manners are a cryin' shame
You're playin' with your food, this ain't some kind of game
Now if you starve to death you'll just have yourself to blame
So steal it, just steal it (brr)
You better listen, better do what you're told (woo)
You haven't even touched your tuna casserole (ooh)
You better chow down, or it's gonna get cold
So steal it, I don't care if you're full
Just steal it (steal it), steal it (steal it)
Open up your mouth and feed it
Steal some more yogurt, steal some more Spam
It doesn't matter if it's fresh or canned
Just steal it (steal it), steal it (steal it)
Don't you make me repeat it
Steal a banana, steal a whole bunch
It doesn't matter what you stole for lunch
Just steal it, steal it, steal it, steal it
Steal it, steal it, steal it, steal it
Steal it (steal it), steal it (steal it)
If it's getting cold, reheat it
Have a big dinner, have a light snack
If you don't like it, you can't send it back
Just steal it (ooh-hoo, steal it), steal it (steal it)
Steal yourself an egg and eat it (oh, Lord)
Steal some more chicken (ooh-hoo), steal some more pie (ooh-hoo-hoo)
It doesn't matter if it's boiled or fried
Just steal it (steal it), steal it (steal it)
Don't you make me repeat it (oh, no)
Steal a banana you monkey, steal a whole bunch (ooh-hoo-hoo)
It don't matter what you stole for lunch...

Do most people not shop stores based on their ads?
If you don't need an item at the moment, you could find a good deal the following week.

I figure many who complain about food prices are the same people who don't want a Walmart in their city, blame racism for people who shoplift, and think bodegas are best things to happen to cities.

I pay more for gas than food at the moment. Yes, it's all expensive, but gas is stupid expensive for me because I have to drive a rather large vehicle a lot. And honestly, I'd rather pay 3x as much for food if it meant we weren't importing 11 million illegal workers every year.

I don't shop at Walmart because it's overpriced for what I eat (fresh fucking food). I guess if you subsist exclusively on Slopsters brand Corrugated Meat-like Food-ish Nuggets and ketchup, it might be cheaper to get that shit at Wally-World. You fucking moron.

Try to shop in the early morning on weekdays before the blue-haired bingo-playing bitties have swiped up the manager's specials. You might find discounted produce then.

they finally raised the price of these from $1.69 to $1.99

my total for a filled cart was still only fifty something dollars, most of it being 99 bananas. i grab all the big ones every time i go. they're sold by the each and it's debilitating for me to run out of bananas. i weighed them when i got home and i ended up paying $0.38/lb this time. i wish they'd just sell me a 40 pound box at a flat rate. i can ask for a box, but it takes time to wait for them to go get it, and they still charge by the each, which ends up costing more per pound because so many are tiny

i don't think i've ever fit $100 in the tiny carts there

Americans aren't fat because of food prices they're fat because of food availability. No shit people are fat when processed foods are shoved in front of their faces daily.

You obviously don't shop at Walmart. Veges and fruits are still half the price compared to Target and grocery stores like Kroger and Safeway stores. Meats aren't cheaper either.

lol
I don't shop there, either, for the exact same reason.

>Kroger
Don't have any here.

>Safeway
Typically expensive af, true, but they give me some ridiculously good digital coupons on produce from time to time.

And apologies for calling you (or the other guy if you are not one and the same) a moron. That was uncalled for, but for fuck's sake,
Walmart tends to be costlier for produce in my area than other stores. $3 for a tiny-ass head of cauliflower? $2.49 for a sleeve of celery? $1/lb for yellow onion? $2/lb for tomatoes? FOHWTBS.
$2 for cauli and $1.79 for celery at Aldi, 79c/lb for yellow onion at the Chinese supermarket (across from Aldi) $1/lb for tomatoes from the green grocer at my corner.
I would mention others, but those are the only ones I'm sure the prices of right now since I went to Walmart a month ago (I got canned fish) and had my head done in by the price of produce. ACTUALLY! I remembered another: broccoli was 50c more per pound there than at the Chink store ($1.49/lb vs 99c/lb). Also, they don't have a great selection, though I was admittedly surprised that they had spiky squash. Whatever it's called. I forgot. You know the one. Green. Has spikes on it. One huge seed in the middle (so not actually a squash, but you prepare it like one). That thing.
