What are some poorfag staples? Budget meals or staples I should be stocking up.
Finna make a big purchase at the end of summer and I'm trying to spend next to nothing, stop eating out, and eat more basics.

Pic related, I love porkchops.

Top sirloin. Cheap as fuck compared to filet or ribeyes which are my favorite. Gets your jaw a workout. I'm on 85% meat and dairy diet. Beef is like half that.

Chickpeas.
Boils like beans, nutrients like lentils but chewier texture. Defrosts really well.
Mash with olive oil and tahini for hummus (as spread with veggies is TOP tasty).
Deep fry for falafel.
Works well in woks as well.

Eh if you cook it nice and rare and it's decent quality top sirloin it's quite tender, the moment you start verging into medium doneness it's chewy as hell though. It's actually a god tier cut for sous vide for that reason

bake chicken with rice and vegetables and eat
save bones and boil into broth
make soup from broth

Just store the bones in your freezer until your ready to let them simmer over the entire day.

Also yeah hummus as the other anon said is good, chickpeas, tahini, garlic/lemon and blend together until paste. Get cheap flatbread and enjoy.

a peanut butter, banana, honey, tortilla wrap made of whole wheat will do you fine. your peanut butter and whole grain tortilla make a complete protein, bananas are always great for vitamins and minerals and some honey for an energy boost. what more do you need? honey might be a little expensive but you're not using a bunch of it so it'll last awhile

One of my favourite povo polish recipies is our take on the weiner shnitzel.
All you need is a whole chicken (most cost effective).
Prepare the breasts like in this video:
https://youtu.be/3nuN4lS7bmc
On the side you have mash or whole potatoes with butter.
Finally add a salad consisting of shredded cucumber with cream and a generous amount of salt and pepper and you're eating like a king.

Cabbage costs fuck all, buy a whole cabbage throw it in a pot with any mince + curry powder + chicken noodle soup mix and you've got a nutritious slop that actually tastes pretty good.

I've got a full recipie that's a little more complicated I make regularly even though I'm no longer a poorfag because it tastes so good/is so easy.

>> No.19342462

We eat like poors. Lotsa produce, a little everything else. To eat on the cheap, it's more important to shop for deals than to have a set of "staples."
We just buy whatever is cheap and looks good when we go to the store and our pantry is mostly beans and pulses with some rice, noodles and pasta.

This is from memory:

1 cabbage
1 onion
500g any mince
Optional handful of Assorted vegetables (whatever is on hand, carrot, leek, celery, corn, peas etc)
Curry powder to taste
Fish sauce to taste
Soy sauce to taste
Garlic
Black pepper
Chicken noodle soup mix (makes 1L)
Toast + butter
Cornflour

Brown the fuck out of mince, add onion and garlic once it's almost there
Make a well and drop in some curry powder and toast it a bit
Splash in fish sauce
Deglaze with 1L of water
Add chicken noodle soup mix
Add cabbage + optional other veggies
Simmer/reduce till vegetables are cooked
Taste for seasoning after reducing cause it might already have enough salt depending on your soup mix, either way add as much cracked black pepper as you feel comfortable adding
Make a cornflour slurry and add bit by bit and stir, you want it to be slop consistency and not soup because of the next step
Butter some toast
Serve by putting generous heap on each piece of toast.

I dunno what your country is like but I can make this for like $15 and it's 3-4 meals, it's filling tasty and full of vegetables, been making it since university days and will probably feed it to my children and children's children.

oatmeal. ive eaten it so often i can eat it plain (cooked obviously). a spoon of peanut butter and a dash of dairy (i like light cream) is my work week breakfast. my coworkers used to look at my oatmeal with disdain until their morning fast food orders went over $10 a day.

To eat cheaply, you have to love pork, or learn to love it. Stick with roasts so you're not paying for bones and gristle.
Turmeric, cumin, and ginger can make almost anything edible. Think: Badia-brand Jamaican curry powder.
Lentils are a dollar a pound, and so much more satsifying and versitile than beans. No soaking overnight, and they cook quickly.
Cook with butter or you'll be miserable. Get the fat/acid ratio right, and you'll be happy with most anything.

Just a few pointers. Picrel probably cost two bucks to make.

It's a simple stir-fry with pork loin, fresh white mushroom, green onion, yellow onion, fresh ginger root, Worcestershire sauce, and a fuckton of turmeric. Add bell pepper and ramen and it's almost pork lo mein.
