Whenever I cook, my hands are... greasy, sticky, afterwards. So I wash my hands, use good hand sanitizer. But... it doesn't work. Even after, my hands will still feel greasy and sticky, so I wash them again. And again. And again... I must wash my hands perhaps ten times until it goes away. Why is this? Is this normal, or am I washing them incorrectly? I use clean water from the tap and good quality hand sanitizer. Why do they remain greasy and sticky? Help me, good men of /ck/.

I use both. Neither seem to have much of an effect. Hrm, my hands are still sticky. I will go wash them again.

Maybe it's the hand sanitizer, if you mean the stuff that's supposed to be left on your hands. That could leave a residue you don't like the feeling of. Just soap and water should be enough.

Sounds weird, maybe you are just mentally ill. There is some amazing grease cutting soap out there though to help you get fat off your hands. I once used a soap that was really oily itself, it was like oil mixed with sand into a paste but it cleaned your hands perfectly without scrubbing them raw

>>19310744
The hand sanitizer, I mean liquid soap more like. You rub it all over your hands, and then rinse if off with pure, angelic water.
>>19310746
Interesting. I will look into this. Though, it might also be that I am just mentally ill. I notice oftentimes that I randomly have an intense urge to wash my hands. It is because they feel like the sensation described in the OP, however, I have not done anything that would warrant that effect in my hands. I am a diagnosed schizophrenic if it matters, but that does not seem to have much to do with this. I very rarely actually hallucinate, and if I do, I know that it's not real. But the sticky greasy hands, that I know is real.

Does it happen with bar soap? I've noticed sometimes there's a feeling like that left on my hands after using liquid soap but not bar soap.

Wipe the majority of the whatever is on your hands with a paper towel, then wash your hands with hot water and a generous squirt of dish soap. Leather those dudes up real good and proper.

Why are you using hand sanitizer? Do you not understand how soap works?

>Soap is an excellent cleanser because of its ability to act as an emulsifying agent. An emulsifier is capable of dispersing one liquid into another immiscible liquid. This means that while oil (which attracts dirt) doesn't naturally mix with water, soap can suspend oil/dirt in such a way that it can be removed.

>The organic part of natural soap is a negatively-charged, polar molecule. Its hydrophilic (water-loving) carboxylate group (-CO2) interacts with water molecules via ion-dipole interactions and hydrogen bonding. The hydrophobic (water-fearing) part of a soap molecule, its long, nonpolar hydrocarbon chain, does not interact with water molecules. The hydrocarbon chains are attracted to each other by dispersion forces and cluster together, forming structures called micelles. In these micelles, the carboxylate groups form a negatively-charged spherical surface, with the hydrocarbon chains inside the sphere. Because they are negatively charged, soap micelles repel each other and remain dispersed in water.

>Grease and oil are nonpolar and insoluble in water. When soap and soiling oils are mixed, the nonpolar hydrocarbon portion of the micelles break up the nonpolar oil molecules. A different type of micelle then forms, with nonpolar soiling molecules in the center. Thus, grease and oil and the 'dirt' attached to them are caught inside the micelle and can be rinsed away.

Tl;dr use soap, baka. Dish soap is probably the best for dealing with cooking oils/fat/grease, but regular hand soap can work if it's all you have.

If for some reason you think soap doesn't work, then it's probably psychological and you're tricking yourself into thinking your hands are still greasy. You're probably just feeling your smooth, clean and now moisturized hands but are dumb and your brain is just making you think it's still oil...?

Is this really the state of zoomers now? Is this honestly the intellect of the upcoming generation? Too fucking stupid to understand how to wash oil and grease off of their hands? They must be a zoomer because only someone growing up in the age of Covid would associate hand sanitizer with hand cleanliness, but then fail to understand that it is a different kind of clean it provides. It's actually incredible how stupid people can be. How do they even make it into adult life without dying in some sort of freak but easily avoidable accident when they're this dumb? Next time you leave the house, OP, be sure to wear a helmet because it sounds like you need it.
