Why is /ck/ against vegetable oil?

>> No.19306476

I guess it’s usable if you’re making a boxed brownie mix

Vegetable oil has a bitter flavor however it's low cost and can be produced quickly.

Corn oil and Canola are both more costly and have a stronger taste than soybean.

Beef tallow is the best flavor however is also expensive and high in demand, which is why it's difficult to find. You can make your own from beef fat trimmings.

>this is the true based and redpilled take on vegetable oil and alternatives
vegetable oil is fucking fantastic in the sense that it can be used as an alternative in many ways to other oils in recipes without SERIOUSLY ruining a dish, and on top of that, it is the cheaper than most other things, and furthermore, more readily available. That being said, being the cheapest option, using olive oil, butter, or lard might improve the taste of what you're cooking circumstantially, meaning, most things, you could probably use them interchangeably and have good food, however, for some things, using the proper oil/lard/specific shortening could change something from a good dish to an amazing one, >example: french fries with vegetable oil are still great, but french fries with duck fat are amazing
point is, if you can afford fancy oils and shortenings, it might make a difference, but if you're a skilled cook, you can use vegetable oil for most things and still produce amazing food

They don't have any taste and have way too many harmful effects to name. They are created in a highly industrialized process and did not exist prior to 150 years ago. These oils do not exist in nature and there is no way we could've evolved eating something that didn't exist. It's not like they're identical to natural fats either, their n-6 ratios are usually way higher and even the healthier tropical oils have their own issues. There are vegetable oils produced by purely mechanical separation, with no solvent wash.

i'm sorry bros but hog dietary input translates very directly to adipose tissue makeup because there's no ruminant or hind-gut fermentation of their food. they're fed high pufa trash, they become high pufa trash. if you live in a cold area of the US or Europe and they're fed well they're still going to be less saturated as an environmental adaptation. unless they're heritage pigs fed natural diets of acorn/etc and not wonderbread plastic bag and mycotoxin bread + soy oil feed you are just consuming hog-scented canola. the lipid profile is the same.

you can avoid by using tallow or butter coconut oil. even palm kernel oil is preferred to modern american lard.

You are so fucking stupid lmao. Way to ignore the other half of my logic. Heart disease rate has only gone up since demonising saturated fat. Infections went down after medics started washing their hands etc. I'd love to know what kind of loser explodes with such rage and self-assurance at a very simple statement.

Why do people say it's unhealthy? It's made of vegetables, you're basically eating a salad

Because different areas use different plants to juice for oil depending on availability: rapeseed, sunflower, soybean, corn, palm fruit etc.

Yeah that's great and all but you didn't answer my question: what is a healthful use for seed oil? People keep saying they are healthy but everything made with them is terrible for you! It's all fried carnival and take out foods.

It's not about where oil comes from, it's about how processed it is. No resolution will ever be reached on the topic while people continue to use terms like "seed" or "vegetable" oil instead of what it really is, "hydrogenated" oil.

it's not a hot take. cattle will do some manner of conversion from the food they eat, pigs will just pass the fats along as they are. their bodyfat will be the form that they're fed

humans are similar

yes, i wouldn't buy it or choose to consume it when tallow, butter, coconut oil exist. if you want low-coconut flavor for frying refined coconut is neutral and there's ghee which is just clarified butter but overcooked by indians.
