Philosophers Coffee:

Any Coffee
1 Cacao
2 Nutmeg
3 Cinnamon
4 Cloves
5 Ginger
6 Maca
7 Mucuna
8 Chili
9 Lions Mayne
10 Cream
11 Vodka

My prefered method of preperation is to make the Coffee plain first and then add in the rest so they dont get filtered out. Alternatively you can add in all the ingredients minus the cream and vodka into the brew and filter the whole thing to make a completely liquid version.

>Yesterday we had the great honor of a visit from @alan.fabbri , very interested in the history of the coffee makers collected in the Museum, especially in the history of those produced in the past decades here in Ferrara. Our city boasted a huge metallurgical activity, which began in the early 1900s, and alas ended with the 2012 earthquake. The last major protagonist was Metallurgica Lux in Viale Volano, which produced exceptional coffee makers and housewares with the Stella brand. Many thanks for your visit, and for your attention to the realities of the area that do their utmost to save and pass on its past, in the various events.

>literally drink coffee every day, and sometimes even 6 large cups because of how delicious it tastes
>the DeLonghi coffee machine is literally god tier and delivers the best quality I can imagine

I literally see no difference between the cheap beans from LIDL with the cheapest DeLonghi machine I could find compared to the ultra expensive coffees.

I drink all my coffee raw with zero additional stuff. Just tap water and beans grinded through my DeLonghi and pressed into my cup.

All this bullshit about "coffee difference" is just bullshit. Literally the cheapest beans coffee with the cheapest coffee machine I could find and normal tap water is for me more than enough.

Just imagine you can enjoy coffee every day, drink as much as you want, and see no meaningful difference in your money expenses.

I can't understand how people buy $1k+ machines and insanely expensive coffee. I love my coffee and I pay not even $100 in a year for coffee and I have the sub $300 machine already for year. And I talk about insane coffee consumption of at least 4+ LARGE cups per day.

If you spend insane amounts of money on coffee, just buy a cheap coffee machine (look up reviews if you can't get a very cheap DeLonghi), buy cheap bones from a grocery store you trust, and just test drinking this raw coffee for a months.

I wouldn't touch any expensive coffee anymore, because of how delicious my giga cheap coffee is.

Anon, it's panettone made by a well known renowned artisanal bakery that only makes panettone during the winter season.

From their website:

>In the coffee version, we enrich the dough with Giamaica Caffè by Gianni Frasi, rigorously prepared with a moka pot. For this leavened product we have chosen the Afribon blend, with a creamy and intense taste. Finally, we replace raisins and candied citrus fruits from the traditional recipe with dark chocolate pearls, to enhance the taste of the coffee. The result is a Panettone with an adult and persistent taste, decisive and greedy at the same time.
In production from October 15th to January 15th.

>I would like to kindly ask you if, with an estimated consumption of 1 200 gram pack every 10 days, the coffee is adequately preserved inside the valve pack in which it is supplied and the last ones I will consume can worthily keep their freshness up to 50 days from their reception.
>Possibly, do you think it could be useful to seal the coffee in vacuum-packed bags (I have a machine for domestic use that performs this function) and keep them in the freezer, defrosting them as I consume them?
>I would take advantage of this email to ask you another question, since you are very expert on Moka pots and I have a problem to submit.
>One month ago I bought a Giannina coffee maker, the latest "restyling" version, with which I replaced the now defunct classic aluminum Bialetti, and since I've been using it I've always had difficulty getting the coffee out, even following the instructions in the his video the perfect moka.
>In particular, what happens is that by setting the burner to minimum under the coffee maker, the coffee starts to come out and then either it stops completely until I raise the flame a little, or alternatively it comes out but once it is about halfway through the delivery it starts immediately foaming and bubbling, it gurgles and steam comes out from the top of the fireplace but not coffee.

>If I proceed with a slightly more sustained flame, the coffee comes out but basically the matter does not change much since the coffee maker gurgles and starts making bubbles mid-delivery without the flow of coffee continuing and the only way to stop the delivery of coffee is letting him do it until the intensity of the gurgling gets louder signaling that he's done.
Not having noticed leaks from the seal or other strange things, I tried to press the coffee, to add a little less or a little more but I always get this strange delivery and not smooth and constant as it happened with the Bialetti.
>Trying to analyze if it wasn't the grain of the ground coffee that was perhaps too coarse, I tried to make the coffee by placing 1 Aeropress filter between the funnel and the upper filter of the Giannina, with the result that the extraction was slowed down and the problem seemed almost resolved (almost because other times despite the filter it happened again), with a coffee that in addition to coming out cleaned of all impurities and residue of ground coffee in the cup, also came out very frothy in the Giannina collector.
>Before contacting the Giannina manufacturer's customer service for guidance, I thought I'd ask you as a user of the same coffee maker and who knows how many others you may have tried.

you should make your own blend, buy multiple small bags of single origin beans you know you like and then combine them.

So, I was experimenting with this setup of having coffee separated from milk and I found that in order to achieve the best result it's better to sip the milk with whatever I'm eating (sweet) and to leave the coffee for last. Be aware that before drinking the coffee you have to take the last bite of the food, not the milk because the fattiness of the whole milk would alter the coffee taste and mute some notes.

no injuries this time :)
it looked ok from the outside but once i got the bottom burr out i saw how much the oils had built up
i drank natural process for like 7 months straight without cleaning it
it didnt smell bad but it actually just smelt like oil like engine oil or something, which i wasn't expecting.
i didnt know what to clean it with so i got some like fragrance free wet wipes and just wiped down the everything i could.
i tried just regular tissues but that didnt have enough oomph so i thought these wet wipes i have should work fine since they dry very fast and dont leave any kind of residue.

i wasn't able to take out the top part of the burr because i dont have a small enough screwdriver but it looked mostly fine.
if everything is put back together and works like it did before then i will have more confidence and will try to remove and clean the top part of the burr next time.

i used tape to mark where my normal setting is so i can have an easier time getting back the size that i know works.

i didnt want to use water for some reason, idk it just didnt feel right in my head even though im sure if left out to dry fully there probably isn't a problem with it.

i havent been talking about my coffee much recently which is pretty depressing.
i checked out (was it you or someone else idk) the beans you were talking about in the last thread but i was not able to find a roaster in my country(australia) that had those beans
like i mentioned before my roaster which i love just doesnt have anything interesting at all these last few months.
but finding another roaster with the kinds of beans i want and the price range and the roasting frequency and the shipping speed is going to be a challenge.
i need something to get me a spark of inspiration, what would this general do without my schizo posts about flavor notes and autistic procedures.

thanks for asking :)

It's roughly one month since my K6 arrived. Previously I was using C2 for almost 2 years. I mainly use it for aeropress, but recently I also tried making cold brew.
>I didn't expect it to be that chonky.
>So far, the UX is better. The outside adjustment feels handy. The lever rotates easier and needs less force. There's also less retention from the body and the catcher, the latter makes me wondering why Timemore used that removable bottom gimmick.
>Honestly, I don't think I make better or worse cuppa with K6, but having smaller adjustments make it easier to move my grind toward my taste. Like, the difference between 11 and 12 ticks in C2 is significant that I have to accept one setting or the other. With K6, I can tweak bit by bit. Also, I was worried that my hand would inadvertently rotate the grind setting but that's not the case.
>I don't know why, but my "zero" out of the box started at 5 ticks before 0. After cleaning it once, it moved to -4. Either way, it feels weird.
>If someone can tell me how to install that top paperclip in an easy way, that would be great. The cleaning is easy except that one annoying part.

Look at it this way: by drinking “better than average even if not so good” coffee (according to what I can find here of course) bought from local small roasters will teach me how to recognise defective beans and whatnot so that once I’ll get really good coffee I will be able to appreciate the differences.

How effective are these cleaner tablets for a hand grinder?

>> No.19232653

They work but they're unnecessary. Hand grinders are low retention by design. They don't really get gunked up unless you're running oily roasts. Those are for cafes that don't have time to strip and clean a grinder. Run a few of those through then purge 50g of beans and they're good to go. You just need to brush your burrs out. 10 minutes of downtime costs you nothing.

shake it very lightly like once to make sure its not dripping
and then stir the beans with it in whatever you measured them in

use a tiny spray bottle
1 spray

I think that this is where I want to experiment with the grind size to find the taste I like, right?

Also what do I do with my grinder gear showing 2.0 when it’s in the espresso range according to the chart it came with?

Do I simply need to not give a fuck about that chart?

As always, newtards don't know how to handgrinder. We just went through this with another anon a few weeks ago. Adjust completely to "zero", i.e. grinder does not turn any further. 40 clicks per full rotation, 12.5 micron adjustment per click. That chart is just a vague suggestion. Don't get hyperfixated on it. Every coffee is going to grind differently.
