To the hypochondriac cancer schizo in the other thread: metals don’t give you cancer, asbestos was used as an insulant/fire retardant and totally doesn’t make sense used in coffee equipment where only food safe metals are used, aluminium particles are released in significantly quantities only with high heat when in contact with extremely acidic substances.

It's a drip-coffee made with boiling water.
Espresso, Moka, and Neapolitan all use boiling water, but the espresso shoots water at high pressure at the coffee, the moka goes medium, and the Neapolitan is just gravity fed.
Since the steeping time is short, you'll probably find that the only difference is that the higher the pressure, the higher the concentration of the coffee, and the coffee itself covers all other small differences.

O frà, it's just a coffee.
If you need more than a 6 cups, your family is bigger than an Italian family from the 90s onward, and anyway we'd just grab the 4 cups and make the coffee 2 or 3 times as needed, because for most people making 6 cups at once is not a daily occurrence (so the grease film in the moka will go rancid and ruin the coffee)

I still have 2 coffees to finish and I’m drinking like 3-4 cups per day to hasten the process.

Also is it normal that using the aeropress filter the coffee somehow loses body? I feel like with one of my coffees the filter kind of cleans and smoother its edges, making it more gentle in flavour.

I’m curious to try the E&B competition filter though to see if metal sheet > paper filter.

Based.

He’s basically saying that in order to best taste the coffee, even the perfectly roasted one (for it will always have some bitterness to it), you need to add white sugar (do not exceed) because it’s an enhancer of flavour and it also neutralise the bitterness and rebalances the cup.

In synthesis, a good executed coffee tastes good without sugar but it will taste even better with it.

People enjoy bitterness though, some people I should say. Some people might even want their coffee to be a little acidic. Or for the same reason youd want a fruitier cup instead of other "bold" flavors in your coffee.

I dont put sugar in my coffee because I dont want it, regardless of if it would factually enhance the taste. Every now and then I do enjoy lattes or capp with milk and sugar though. But when I make a fresh cuppa I want it black, no bullshit.

I really don't understand why you REST OF THE WORLD acts this way, because drinking that much moka coffee in one sitting is insane and dangerous.

You're Americanizing the Moka treating it in a different way than it was conceived by a different culture.

When you look at a moka and it says "6 cups" it means that you make 6 fucking single cups out of a brewing session, it doesn't mean that you need to pour 6 cups of coffee inside a mug and chug everything, you fucking exaggerated mutt fucks with heart and digestive related issues. You fucks, in monkeys. You pieces of shit.

400 milligrams of caffeine is the amount you don't want to exceed daily to avoid health issues, a single cup of moka coffee has 100-120 milligrams of caffeine (less if 100% arabica) and that means that you don't want to drink more than 3-4 cups of moka per day.

Drinking 6 cups of coffee in a mug in one sitting is mental retardation and dangerous too, but then again it's not surprising considered that your rules want you mutts perpetually ill and obese so they can suck all your money throughout your whole life to give you jewish healthcare that never cures you while you keep destroying yourselves doing shit like pic related.

yes, the cause for most concern about caffeine overconsumption is some random infographic and the <<<0.1% of non-italians who use moka pots, instead of >5% of italians who drinks espresso or americano alone more than 5 times a day. there are a couple orders of magnitude more americans who smoke crystal meth than there are moka pot drinkers

Last time I bought something like that I got a zojirushi thermos. Not only is it vacuumed but it has a suspended foil sheet to reflect radiant heat. Stuff stays hot in there longer than is safe to drink.

Bros, it's happened again. My smugness is gone.

I made coffee with the reducer on the 3 cup side, the pot extracted 75% of the coffee and then started gurgling on low fire, then I raised the flame and it gurgled even harder spitting steam. I let it finish gurgling on residual heat and at the end there was 90% of the coffee in the top part.

This never happens with the reducer on the 1 cup side, I can brew all the water on lowest fire.

What the fuck anon, is it the coffee grinded too fine? Is it the heat too low? How is it possible that the pressure is ok for 75% of the water but not for the other 25%?

washer and dryer broke so i had to take the money out of the hg-2 fund:(
i feel like my rok is starting to wear down.
im thinking of doing a full clean and idk some kind of ghetto re-alignment because i have been noticing a small like scraping sound when my crank goes from 10am to 3pm(if you think about the crank as a clock, the starting position is 6am)
but for some reason the "new" rok that i have doesnt have numbers on the adjustment wheel, its just blank, which is really annoying when dialing in.
i guess i could use like a bit of tape on each bit to indicate where it is now so i know where it should be when i reassemble it.
thanks for asking :)

have you had any beans recently that have inspired you?

Ran into some trouble with roasterV2 so I just wired up the popper back to stock earlier today. I'm out of freezer beans so the plan is to roast up 10ish lbs over the next week for resting/freezing and get back to modding. Did 1/2lb of some brazilian yellow bourbon semiwashed organic a few hours ago to make sure I wasn't going to burn my deck down and everything seems fine. This weekend we go hard whittling down the stash of greens so I can get in some late summer crop.

Try to locate some wuri gedeb grade 0 if you can. Both nat and washed are fantastic. I've been sipping the last bit I roasted and froze in fall but I'm down to like 100g so it was time to get the roastietrain rolling again. One of the only coffees I've really been missing lately is Hacienda La Florida gesha nat, so I've got my wallet ready to snag 20lbs next time it pops up.

A full teardown might not be a bad idea. Lube your gears, try to reseat everything better etc.

last time i greased the gears i used vegetable oil spray from my kitchen because thats all i had and i got it on my hands so when i went to put it back in the cupboard(i have a small kitchen and try to put things away when im not using it so i have more bench space) the grinder slipped and i caught it and put it away and then looked down and saw the side of my thumb was bleeding, turns out i had cut open my thumb somehow, which is strange because the rok is like all smooth and rounded metal.
but the spray worked good enough, i should get some actual mechanical lube in the future though.
my roaster doesnt have interesting beans at the moment so im in a bit of a slump, ill take a look at those beans you mentioned for my next order :)

I'd clean all that shit off and find some dry teflon spray. Just opened the jar of yellow bourbon to get a whiff. Already giving off its sweet peanut aroma. Its not my favorite but I was paying $4/lb from the distributor. It tastes like a reese's cup. I was handing that shit out for gifts left and right and everyone loved it. I'll probably just use it to tide me over while everything else I'm going to roast up rests for a bit. Good luck on the bean hunting. Make sure to take some pics of the rok teardown. It'll be like looking at pictures of a bad ex once you spring for the hg2.

What are you working on? I started last year. I killed a couple trials of hot peppers. One is still trying. I've got an heirloom tomato doing ok and a garlic. One cilantro came up and tipped over. I thought I bought mustard, but it's japanese Komatsuna and it will basically grow a bush out of a pringles can.
