Full stainless to avoid tasting metal, also avoid at all costs Bialetti for the quality of their Moka is trash and has gone down the drain.

I’d suggest the ILSA Slancio or the Mokista you can buy from here https://www.mokista.it/prodotto/la-tua-moka-definitiva-3-1-tazze-finitura-nera-in-acciaio-inox/

It’s true though, stainless stell is neutral and allows you to fully taste every note of your coffee whereas aluminium releases metal particles that can slightly alter it.

Besides, do you really want to ingest aluminium particles? I don’t.

Gaggias aren't that great stock but because they're so ubiquitous you can make a lot of aftermarket modifications to them using kits from various suppliers or the gagguino project.

Basically, for 90$ worth of junk from aliexpress you can turn your shitty gaggia into a machine with features not seen until the 3000$ price point using software some autiste put on Github using the gagguino circuit diagrams. Or, you can add manual temperature control and pressure control using separate kits made by other manufacturers. That's why it's a valuable machine. If you want something to just work and you don't value tinkering, listen to what the other anons said.

I'm not sure about frustrations with it because I never used mine stock, I installed a 9 bar OPV spring pretty much immediately to stop the overly strong pump from putting in too much pressure. I also have only ever used it with an 18g VST basket and some aliexpress puck screens, I've been getting good results out of it so far.

I had old Bialetti moka pots at home, like early 2000s and the difference in quality with the ones I bought at the beginning of this year is day and night.

I bought a 3 cups one at the store and the 1 cup on Amazon and both of them had quality issues, mainly they were full of scratches, rough and sharp edges, the aluminium cast had imperfections and impurities…such a shitshow and I paid respectively 21 and 25€ for this trash.

I bought them without research because as an Italian Bialetti means moka, every Italian has one at home, but the last years ones are shit and have nothing do to with older products which were of good quality. It enrages me that their products are still made in Italy, at least the Moka Express, and this quality is unacceptable.

What price range would you consider fair/good for a secondhand lelit Anna (PL041)? I've been considering pulling the trigger on my first machine soon and was trying to decide whether to keep an eye out for a good price on a GCP or try my luck on one of the lelit models, but wasn't sure about what would constitute a good deal on one. My understanding is that the Anna out of the box is a much more capable machine than the gaggia, is this correct? I'm also not against putting in some DIY work to improve whatever I get my hands on if I can significantly improve its performance.

i have found when ordering beans that if i choose the filter option that it is a medium light instead of just medium.
...
i hope you are ordering from a specialty roaster that roasts to order 3 times a week.

Hello coffee heads, as a city slicker i want to help my parents, who're from a rural town, have better coffee.

And to be the change >>19198798 i decided to gift them a superauto. Let's be honest, they ain't gonna mess around with no grams, grinders, or precision baskets.

Superauto to the rescue haha.

So my question to you Kahwa -xperts is the next one:

Would the Jura ENA8 be a good choice for my rural parents to have some good city slicker coffee for the rest of the their lives?

Would they know if they had good coffee with the Jura ENA8 superauto?

This evening the Giannina made fantastic coffee, very good and dense, I instantly can tell the effects of the removal of the filter because I can feel the “muddy” coffee in my mouth but it doesn’t disturb me at all because I think it adds flavour.

It's definitely an upgrade.

I was thinking of upgrading to the E&B precision filter but I don't know if it fits my Giannina (it's universal for aluminium moka pots but it needs to be compatible with stainless ones because they have different filter sizes), when I remove the gasket I'll measure it and see.

For now the coffee is so good I don't think I need to upgrade, also grit in my cup doesn't disturb me unless it adds unpleasant bitterness or acidity, but this is not the case because by always using 100% arabica my coffee tends to be always naturally sweet, even though I add 1/3rd of tea spoon of sugar to my cups.

Notably, the Giamaica decaf has been the sweetest one by far and I drink it without added sugar.

>Detailed statistical analyses showed that aluminium was significantly increased in each of these disease groups compared to control tissues. We have confirmed previous conclusions that the aluminium content of brain tissue in Alzheimer’s disease, autism spectrum disorder and multiple sclerosis is significantly elevated. Further research is required to understand the role played by high levels of aluminium in the aetiology of human neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental disease.

Look older posts.

Modern Bialetti is trash and they make many of their pots in China, with the exception of the moka express like that it’s made in Italy but the quality is so rubbish I had to return 2 of them because I was genuinely scared to drink pieces of aluminium.

All the shops which I visited and the sellers I talked to told me that Bialetti is rubbish compared to 10-15 years ago, in fact they didn’t even sell them at their shops.

With that said, all stainless included handle and cap is cool and everlasting because plastic handles can melt or broke.

My Giannina is all stainless and while costing 85€ on Amazon (110€ in shops) has a 10 years warranty which is long as fuck. Bialetti offer the classic 2 year warranty. This makes you think.

I have more success getting coffee that tastes perfect to me by just guessing the amount of beans instead of measuring them out.

I use a 1:16 typically. What can I change/do to make it better every time?

Beans are "cherry" seeds. The cherry has sugars and other good flavorful shit in the pulp. Leaving the pulp on while the bean dries lets flavor seep into the bean. Higher chance for spoilage, but you don't need a washing plant. Takes more time and more effort. Washed coffees are a quicker process and a "cleaner" cup since you're separating the seed from the fruit mucilage and losing that flavor. Honey process is somewhere in the middle. Its a pulped natural. Instead of letting the whole fruit dry with the bean, they remove the skin and leave varying amounts of the "goo" on. Takes even more work to avoid rot since the skin isn't attached to protect shit during drying.

Alberto is the man I aspired to be for all my entire life: nice, lovable, extremely elegant and well mannered, smells nice, has a refined taste for good things and is as pure as a diamond.

I bet that he drives a Lexus (a car that is for connoisseurs in Europe since they're rare and associated with exquisite craftmanship), a dark blue one with tan semi aniline leather interior with walnut veneer trims and his car smells like coffee, it's such a pleasant experience being passenger inside it.

From the pictures alone it's clear that it's a nice product with good craft and finishes, look at the screws, everything looks artisanal and well put togheter.

I bet 500€ that it's also priced at the production cost because Alberto cares more about educating people using the good stuff to brew excellent coffee than vile money earned by selling his products.

I studied the Jura E6 because it looks like a nice package for someone who wants good coffee without having to deal with all the SOVLFUL things that we love like grinding, weighing, coffee powder everywhere, etc..

On paper it looks comfy because it even does the basic and advanced maintenance routine like descaling all by itself requiring very minimal input if nothing at all, so it clearly is cool for someone who's used to nespresso but wants to drink good coffee.

The price for the E6 is north of 900€ but I'm sure that during black friday and other Amazon bullshit sales it can be found for 700-800€ which isn't bad considered that for the semi automatic + grinder I wanted (Lelit PL81T + Eureka Mignon Zero) I would've spent the same + accessories. It's honest and besides if compared to nespresso you save money on coffee when you ditch the awful capsules.
