if I visited your kitchen and I saw one of these, I would be mildly impressed, and you would receive the "patrician nod".

I used to have one but it broke so now I pre-grind my pepper in a spice grinder because I don't want to whip it out every meal.

Not all grindrs are created equal, I have a peugeaut or whatever, and it sucks

>> No.19172480

I just leave plain black pepper in a pile in the middle of my kitchen table for people to use. Easier that way for guests to dip their hotdogs in.

For me, it's pepper

Piper cubeba aka Javanese pepper comes from SE Asia (Java, Indonesia), it's of the same family as regular pepper but has a stronger taste. Piper borbonense comes from Madagascar (Africa) and is called tsiperifery in the local language. The fruit is called voa. Hence voatsiperifery.
They're very different from regular pepper (Piper Nigrum), like Tellicherry pepper, which comes from the coast of Malabar in SW India.

There's no such thing as bourbon pepper or bourbon whiskey. Or bourbon vanilla from Madagascar (it's just regular vanilla, exactly the same as the Mexican original). The only thing they have in common is that they're named after the French royal family, and they were called Bourbon.

I still like pre-ground pepper, but cracked just feels so much better on things.

You'd be disappointed with my kitchen then. I don't use enough black pepper to bother with a fancy grinder.

I can't explain why and I've never looked into it, but for some reason pre-ground black pepper kills my gut but fresh cracked black hits the spot just right.
