Any gourmet mushroom growers here? I've got a fresh batch of yellow oysters coming up. Tell me what I should cook with these.

>How many harvest
About 3. I grew blue oysters before and got about 4-5 pounds of mushrooms per bag. The yields are pretty crazy.

>how much did you pay for that mushroom cultivating pack?
Nothing is from a kit, I DIY'd every part of the grow. It's very cheap. I got the yellow oyster culture by cloning a mushroom that I bought from whole foods. The substrate is moist sawdust from pellet grill pellets, it costs $0.50/lb at Lowes. The bag is a plastic bag.

I grow shiitake. I been meaning to inoculate some new logs this year but I'm running out of time and I'll probably coast on what I got.
Vergy good sauted with some garden greens

Nice, is this >mushrooms, Japan ?
I tried growing shiit in grow bags with sawdust (using my oyster method) but they did not fruit.
They just grew brown mushroomy lumps.

I've been interested in growing mushrooms ever since I got hens and started putting their bedding (sawdust)/poop in my compost and mushrooms started growing.

Besides what we can see in the photo, what is the method?

Just wet sawdust in a bag, sprinkle with spore solution, seal the bag and wait? How do you know when it's ready to harvest? Does it require feeding or sunlight?

>> No.19131155

>>19131042
>Just wet sawdust in a bag, sprinkle with spore solution, seal the bag and wait?
Basically yes, except you have to pressure cook the bag before inoculation to kill any germs and mold spores. Then open it very carefully in a still air box or using a flow hood to make sure mold and bacteria don't get inside with your spores/mycelium. Oyster mycelium is extremely powerful and eats most other molds for breakfast but you do have to be careful since you're basically creating the perfect conditions for growing mold.

>How do you know when it's ready to harvest
I cut the top off the bags when I see them start to produce pins (the buds that will become mushrooms). Sometimes this happens before the entire bag is fully colonized. With these yellow oysters it took like just 12 days.

>Feeding
no
>Sunlight
No, they use light to know which way is up and to tell when they're on the "outside" of the "tree" but don't need light to grow like plants. The regular lights in your house are more than enough.
>Regular misting
Yes, they'll dry out if you don't mist them. I think this isn't necessary if you have a real grow room with proper humidity control but mine's just in my kitchen.

They grow, I don't know what to do with them after. Mostly just dry them out and keep them hanging in the pantry in a pillow case.

>shitake
yes. Neglected them for month while I slipped into cannabis haze. Open the bags when brown spot appear and bumps/buds (primordia?) are formed.
They like to be cooled. I left them outside over night.
They like to be slapped for some reason.
Makes em pop.

Mostly oystes: white, Italian, got a couple bags of chestnuts, Maitaki (hen of woods), and pioppino.
I got a myco lab though. I could be a small producer.
