about £20, or about US$25
this assumes it was 1k of chicken legs, 1kg of sugar, 4 pints of milk, a 750ml Leffe, 6 pack of eggs, 500g of pasta, 500g buckwheat, and 250g of cheese
I couldn't find a small vanilla coke, but a normal one is about £1 to £2 depending on where you get it from
I also put on a tin of sardines as they're 37p/100g
The really expensive thing was the Buckwheat. It's £4/kg whereas long grain rice is £0.45/kg. Oats are £0.70/kg, lentils £1.80/kg, and barley £1.30/kg
More expensive than Russia, but the UK has a median income of nearly 3x what Russia does

This is just a demonstration of the spending power of the USD internationally.
You can't just convert foreign prices to USD and expect it to reflect the relative price of goods.
You have to look at the wages in the country.
For example, you might think someone is poor if they only make 1000 USD a year, but if rent is only 250 USD a year then they're fine.

You pay a deposit on most containers:
Glass beer bottles: 0.08€
Most glass water/juice/lemonade bottles, some glass beer bottles: 0.15€
Almost all plastic/metal single-use containers (bottles, cans): 0.25€
There are some exceptions (wine, many dairy containers).
After use, you can return the container to the shop and get your deposit back. A lot of people also collect empty cans and bottles for money (picrel: a campaign calling people to not throw their containers away, but leave then next to the trash can for Pfand-collectors). Do you not just pay taxes on profit? That's the way it works here. The taxes may be heavy, but they're taxing profit, which is money you made from selling the house and didn't even have before. Profit reduced, yes, but you don't pay out of pocket and get a negative profit.

Sure but these can be quite substantial and these figures do not take inflation into account. So even if you don't get a "negative" profit on paper, you might as well have in some cases where the sales prices is close to the original purchasing price. Not sure why you're hung up on that part though, I mentioned this because of that ten-year period that is specified in the law where additional taxes apply if you sell within that time frame. It could be as high as 45% depending on things like your income bracket.

45% of what, though? Of the profit on the sale? Because that just goes back to my point that you're not losing existing money, you're just taking in less profit.

Say it again but slowly. Inflation describes a phenomenon in which a unit of currency loses value. In that situation, companies will do what with prices in response? And profits, nominally, would do what as a result? Think real carefully now, anons. If there's an inflation rate of 10% and "profits" "rise" by 10%, too, did those greedy companies just become 10% richer and can buy 10% more things themselves now? No. Economists disagree over "findings" like "taxes are currently too high to effectively balance current tax revenue needs against the need for nominal growth". They do not generally disagree over stuff like the basic definition of inflation (vs whether our priority "should" be reducing inflation or maximizing employment or whatever).

You sound like those people who think that just because some TV guy was wrong about whether stocks would go up or down tomorrow, that therefore it's uncertain whether experts think we should bring back the gold standard. Reasonable people can disagree and that doesn't mean you have to accept something insane and stupid now.

I don't think you quite understand how economies of scale work, anon. If it's a higher price then chances are it's because of lower volume and, wow, if you look at some operations raising artisanal, outdoors-living, hand-fed, naturally killed chickens or whatever they're tiny in comparison.
