John Kirkwood is a good guy to learn about simple breads and baked goods. He does a lot of British food so there's meat pies and other main dishes as well. Some French dishes as well. Very comfy channel

It's been said several times already but for informative and enjoyable cooking no one beats Chef Jean Pierre.

He also has a cookbook and a series of instructional DVD's that cover everything from basic sauce knowledge to knife skills and advanced cooking techniques. I bought it a while ago and it was entirely worth the money.
