19071325 No.19071325 [Reply] [Original]

I currently have no job and have a monthly grocery budget of ~250€

For the past few months I have only eaten this in a day:
>200g wholewheat noodles
>200g gouda cheese
>mix in 2 eggs
>onions
>garlic
Aprox. 2000kcal and 80g protein

It's a fine meal but after months it gets stale. I need some variety so share YOUR nutritious poorfag recipe ITT

Gonna copy and expand a bit my post from other thread:
pseudobolognese made of grounded pork, carrots, onions, oil/lard, red lentils for additional thickness passata and spices
barley cooked with split yellow pea/lentils/chickpea with carrots, fried onions and assorted hot dried spices (smoked paprika, pepperoncini, curry, thyme).
lentil/chickpea soup - lentils, carrots, onions, potatoes, lard, if you want to splurge - grounded pork or cheap bacon, passata, dried spices like cumin, coriander, smoked paprika, pepperoncini.
Split yellow pea soup with potatoes
homemade sauerkraut (shredded cabbage left in brine for a week or two) cooked with lentils, carrots and onions with lard/bacon and favorite spices
rice, barley or corn grits with homemade apple sauce for desserts.

Also just use ketchup, mustard or cheap spices, like dried jalapeno, thyme, smoked powdered paprika to goad your taste buds.

what? have you never been poor? for a single person you can eat like a king for 250 euro/month.

my go-to poorfag slop consisted of rice/potatoes, a can of vegetable soup, and like 1/4lb ground beef. all purchased at steep discounts with the beef having been bagged and frozen for 1-2 months at that point. you can add frozen/canned vegetables to make it healthier; fresh veggies are for rich people.

1.brown beef
2.season it to taste
3.continue cooking beef until toasty and delicious
4.add small amount of water to deglaze pan
5.add canned soup, simmer to taste
6.put on rice/potatoes

all the fellow poorfags I've cooked this for ended up loving it. real pile of slop but it's cheap and tasty.

It means that it's organic, duh. So water, salt, and baking soda can't be labelled as "organic".

Why the fuck soy meat is so expensive? It's more expensive than real meat. Shouldn't it be the other way around? Manufacturers love to substitute real meat with soy meat, so it must be cheaper, right? How do I buy it for cheap?

soak navy beans overnight. fry up bite-size sausage slices (or hot dog slices, whatever you got) in a sauce pan. rough chop 1/2 onion and and garlic clove. Add water until onions are half way submerged. bring to light boil (but above a simmer) and put on lid for 2-3 minutes or until the sausage is brown. Add beans and a little more water. Bring to boil and boil for a couple minutes. season. top with sliced tomatoes, window greens, celery leaves, maybe some louisiana hot sauce, melted butter or mozzarella--if you can somehow find them cheap, roast cherry tomatoes or pearl onions and warm them up at the end in the stew--alternatively, you could put a portion in an ovenproof bowl, cover top with bread crumbs and stick under the broiler until golden brown. serve hot.

1 bag of dried kidney beans=6-8 cans of cooked, canned(tinned, yeah?,) beans.
Should be instructions on the bag--If not,
>sort, rinse, soak overnight
>rinse again and cover with 2x as much water as amount of beans in the pot(they swell massively--more than you'd think.)
>bring to a boil stirring occasionally--reduce to simmer then don't touch 'em for an hour.
>check for soft--don't salt 'em until there where you want them softness-wise--season to taste then let simmer for 10 more mins.
WA-LA!!
6-8 cans worth of beans for the price of 1.
they'll keep for several days in the fridge. They freeze ok too.

you could just skip the celery leaves all together. all the toppings are optional. but you get like a dozen ribs out of one bunch, even in nyc or la it won't cost more than $5. don't waste any of it and use the leaves for garnish.

Here you go, my current meal I eat whenever I'm at home.
I come up with something new every once in a while but this is really agreeing with me, I started eating it because I still have a lot of supplies for, got tired of eating, the "thanksgiving bowl" of mashed potatoes, stuffing, peas, corn, green beans, chicken, and gravy.
I got some really good deals on some of the stuff after Thanksgiving, everything is from a can or box, very easy, but this open face sandwich takes much less time to microwave each meal.

Potatoes, rice, dried legumes, cheap stewing meat, offal, frozen veggies/fish. Cheap frozen fish is usually cheaper than canned fish, you don't get the good fat though so a couple of cans of deenz is good too.

I eat like a poorfag most of the time so I can afford luxury ingredients once in a while.

Potatoes are your friend.
Buy meat on sale and cook it with potatoes.
I got a sweet deal on ground beef, so I made a cottage pie.
Easy to do, super filling, very nutritious, and cheap as dirt.
Sometimes I buy steak because it is on sale for a ridiculous price.
If nothing is on sale I buy pork because it is always cheap.
You can braise pork until it falls apart and then make enchiladas out of it.
Also learn how to cook with flour.
Check out these two internet chefs because they are great teachers:
https://www.youtube.com/@foodwishes
https://www.youtube.com/@ChefJeanPierre
Once you learn some of their basic techniques you can make whatever you want.
Good luck, fren.
I hope you feel better soon.
