Gonna have a cup of coffee because I'm feeling a little worn out already and I need to get more studying done. Luckily I'm not a hopeless addict like the guy above me and I drink coffee only when I need a boost, not compulsively to the point where it damages my body.

No. You also don't need to drink coffee though. If you are going to drink coffee, why wouldn't you try to make that the best you can? Controlling variables like temp helps. Making sure your coffee is evenly extracted helps as well. If you don't want to fuck with that, buy some instant or an estropress.

You don't need it but it helps a lot with pourovers. A fancy kettle I mean, unless you're exclusively drinking very light roasts you should have at least some sort of temp control, but you can just grab a cheap kitchen thermometer for that (waiting for the water to cool down after boiling is a bad idea, it takes waaay longer than you think, its better to cut it off at the temp you want)

Dark roasts contain less acid, but more of the chemicals produced by roasting that increase stomach acid production.

Espresso won't reduce the acid in the cup. Acids are the first things to dissolve.

>how do you know how coarse of a grind to make a specific batch?
By tasting it. If you don't like it, change it.
>how do you get the water to be an exact temp
Either get a temp control kettle or keep a thermometer ready.
>what else will i need?
A grinder would open up the roasters you're able to try. Not every roaster is going to sell you preground. This is a guy from the EAF discord with great beans and great prices. He really should fucking jack everything up by $4-5. I just finished up some homeroast of this same crop. Very good.

do you have a recipe you like for hot coffee? I like to just modify those by replacing 30% of water weight with ice.

So modifying Hoffmann's 2 cup recipe would be:
1:~15.5 (slightly stronger ratio to make up for bypass brewing)
25g coffee
271g water
115g ice (make sure you arent using old ice that tastes like a disgusting freezer - ideally youll make your own from the same brew water recipe you use. i like ~50gh/15kh)
0:00 - 0:44 Bloom with 75g water
0:45 - 1:14 pour to 162
1:14 - 1:45 pour to 271
Total brew time should be 2:15 - 3:00 depending on grinder, beans, and most importantly taste

Also with this method

Once fully drawn down, swirl the coffee/ice until it is fully melted to fully cool it and dilute the concentrate you just made, then serve over more ice.

Depends, usually on the roast of the beans. If it's a light roast even boiling water is fine. But if it's a medium or dark roast you might want to drop it to 90 or even 80 degrees celsius. And just waiting is a bad method for doing that because water takes a lot longer to cool than you probably think it does. I measured it once and iirc it took over a minute for it to drop by 1 degree in an open pot.
Also there's not much of a reason to pour down the side of a french press or stir it, just make sure all the grounds are wet and it'll be good enough. Hoffmeme advises not pressing because it mostly just disturbs the grounds and it's better to pour with the plunger extended.

I love BOSS coffee. It's nothing amazing, and not like a real fancy brew. But for like the 2 bucks (or less) you spend on them, they're nice. Good little treats. Though I do think BOSS Black is unironically good, especially if it's chilled. Not cold like from the fridge, but not room temp either.

If you like any of them I suggest you try and from KEY COFFEE like pic related in an asian grocery as it is also pretty good. Again, not like a real brewed cup, but still good.

It looks like you're pouring too hard. My advice, although I am far from an expert, is to space out your pours a little more than the Hoffman method and sacrifice thermal mass for more extraction control. Pour more gently in further apart intervals, and try to gently wash the sediment off the walls of the filter and down into the bed. Ideally when you're finished brewing you won't have nearly as much sediment on the walls of your filter, and your bed should be relatively even.
I've been doing that to compensate for a regular, non-gooseneck kettle and it produces decent results.

I'm not totally sure about the whole procedure. I hear you're not supposed to stir it at all, but sometimes not all of the grain gets wet/saturated if I just put the grain in and pour the water. You will have to buy some stuff if starting from scratch. Look for used or second things though, especially used burr grinders or espresso machines (if that's what you want to drink) since those are where most of your costs will go. People upgrade enough that lightly used ones should be available if you look. If not espresso, a pour over set or french press is relatively cheap. Or just buy a V60 for $10 and make it directly into your mug. Coffee scales are like $25 if you don't get a "smart" one.

You will obviously need to consooooom coffee beans since they are best fresh and you really are paying for that freshness.

I don't feel it's equivalent to cooking where you can give a great chef a handful of cheap but quality ingredients and they'll turn out some impressive dishes. You should really do your homework.

It looks to be a clone of the 38mm italmill burr used in the knock aergrind. Italmill is known as a pretty "traditional" espresso burr maker, but Matt Winton won the World Brewers Cup with the bigger set of italmills in a Kinu m47. I used a Kinu for filter and espresso for years. You should be fine, but at a $50 budget I'd really recommend you just wait and save your pennies. "Buy once cry once", you're probably better off snagging something you'll use longer.

Gooseneck kettles are only necessary for pour-overs, which are full of autists that prefer to obsess over technique and drink coffee that is inferior to French Press. Despite all that effort they're straining their poor coffee through paper at the end of the day like a cheap Mr. Coffee

Having good temperature is nice, too cold and it's bland, too hot and it's burnt. 190 to 210 is the sweet spot and I achieve that with a $30 kettle that's lasted years.

With a French press you don't have to be so finicky: just pour it in and try to be even. You end up stirring it all in a few minutes anyhow, then a few more minutes later you plunge and serve. Easy to do and creates the best coffee.

Cheaper machines will just run a stronger pump with a pressure relief valve. My Breville, for example, has a 15bar pump, but it supposedly brews at 12bar after the valve. It's better for the pressurized basket people use with coarse preground beans, and it's cheaper to manufacture. Of course, this sacrifices something for those of us who don't use that.
I installed a dimmer switch on the pump, and I've found some benefit when brewing light roasts, but I'll probably have to replace the machine at some point if I want better control.

The kingrinder k0 is like 30 bucks on amazon. Although I don't know if anyone itt has ever tried one. Generally an entry level grinder is something closer to $100, but I'm guessing you're asking for the bare minimum, which would be that.
