I don't know what this "algorithm" is you're talking about - probably because I'm not on whatever social media you're using - but Korean food still feels pretty underrated. Yeah, I hear people talking about going to Korean BBQ as a novelty, and it seems like Korean fried chicken places are popping up everywhere just recently, but Kimchi-jjigae is such a solid dish that it should be held in the same high regard as shit like Thai curry, pho, chili, gumbo, ramen, boeuf bourguignon or >>18939837. It's a world class bowl of hot comfort food with it's own unique, balanced flavor profile. Also, who the fuck doesn't like green onions? That might be the biggest cope I've ever seen.

Korean food
>overrated: bulgeogi, patbingsu, bungeoppang, swirly potato sticks, odeng

it will always be the case that popular foreign thing is surface level, that's the norm so it's acceptable to call korean food a fad while still appreciating it

I will fight you on patbingsu, but your overrated list is correct. Bulgeogi is just a slightly higher version trash ground meat you would put in a chili. That potato stick shit is nothing more than Instagram shit, and the last two are just shittier versions of Japanese food because of colonialism.

Deokmandu guk is a food that I have every time I get a cold, and that shit is medicine and great tasting.

Only Korean BBQ is worth it. Hard to screw up grilled meats. Otherwise, Korean food is highly overrated. Everything just tastes like and looks like they took Chinese, Japanese, and American food and added chili.
