Is it true that it's common in West to not wash your rice? Not only that, that some Westerners prefer unwashed rice?

>> No.18863474

The only reason to wash your rice is if you think it is dirty. People "prefer it" because you don't have to since it barely affects the taste/texture at all. I'll wait for your massive cope reply about how it totally affects it but I'll preempt that by saying: no it doesn't. Faggot.

It only effects texture if you specifically want white sticky rice, but the stereotype that whitey don't wash his rice is actually just a fact because tons of traditional European rice dishes actually don't work if you wash the rice, dishes like risotto and paella need the outer starch intact to come together properly. Arsenic was used medicinally (safely and effectively, as your kind says) for thousands of years until the (((FDA))) decided in the 1930s that it was bad, the only acceptable medicines just happened to be patented by pharmaceutical companies owned by jews, and seed oils, refined sugar, and fluoride were good. >thousands of years
as a poison.
It was only used as medicine during a period smaller than 300 years in specific regions due to one person who found specific compounds worked for certain diseases caused by infection. It wasn't "safe", it had costly side effects, but it was a good alternative to dying.
Antibiotics work far better without the risk. Arsenic has always had a reputation as a good reliable slow poison. Minimal long term risks in small doses made it useful against rats.

There are currently tests being done to see if specific tiny amounts of the right arsenic compound can be used to treat cancer in isolated doses, not as a pill you swallow. This is still in the works, and just like chemo, it's an alternative to dying of cancer, so any health risks.

I dunno, I mostly do it to get the texture of the rice to match my preference. Maybe it started out as a way to remove bugs but that's not the reason a lot of people do it anymore.

Interesting. I honestly do not know if the salt with iodine I get is 100% naturally occurring, but it is labelled as coarse ("kosher", for you americans) sea salt, so it might be. In the south of the country, the sea doesn't have as much iodine (you can also tell the difference from smelling the sea breeze in the different coasts), but the smell/taste with iodine is much more reminiscent of "briny" and I do prefer it.

Washing the rice is a pain the ass so I don't bother.
The main reason to do it is to keep your rice from being sticky, but I don't give a single fuck about that.

It also makes your rice into flavorless slop, you lazy fat fuck. That' why you then need those extra high calorie sauces to "give it taste". That's why you obese. You are fat!

It's not, iodine is not a mineral component and does not occur in salt deposits. They started adding iodine to salt in the 20th century because it's easy to become deficient. Kind of like how they started adding Vitamin A to rice exported to third world because everyone there
just ate rice and was getting all kinds of fucked up effects from deficiency.

I've tried it both ways and it tastes about the same.
Also I don't put sauce on rice and I'm thin.
So wrong on all counts.

No it doesn't, youare using cheap american "fortified" rice, and your taste buds are dead. Well cooked rice is delicious and you can tell the different rice types just by the taste. Stupid fat.

What brand of rice should I be buying in China? I've lived here quite some time, but the options are staggering. I normally eat it white just because the bread here is atrocious.
