18854551 No.18854551 [Reply] [Original]

Went to France a few days ago. Brought back four bottles of wine. I don’t know anything about wine.

If you don't know anything about wine you're gonna regret this haut-médoc

>> No.18854570

How much did you pay for each? The first one looks like a pretty generic Bordeaux, not even Superier or Cru Bourgeois, made for immediate drinking.
The Margaux and Gigondas appear to be private labelling for a grocery chain or store. Likely wouldn't age those long if at all but should be decent enough.
Last one looks better, but again it's a non classe Haut-Medoc so drink soon-ish.

If you put a plastic straw in the neck of the bottle then you'll be able to chug the whole thing without stopping to equalize the pressure

Bordeaux is very nice with something beefy and hearty. Drink wine with beef more and you'll grow to love wine

Don't forget to give it a swirl so it'll push out the bottle.

Really basic supermarket stuff, but should be decent. The three Bordeaux are blends of cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc, and maybe a couple other varietals. The Gigondas is a Southern Rhone wine, basically a Cotes du Rhone made with mostly grenache, probably some syrah, and tons of grapes you've never heard of.

To properly drink wine, first you have to stick it in the freezer until it's ice cold (like they do with vodka, but it's really essential with red wine especially). If the bottle has a wooden cork then make sure to screw the corkscrew in as far as you can -- you want a clean hole all the way through. Then you pour it into a chilled glass (preferably a champagne flute) and, if you have one lying around, add a single cherry or citrus peel garnish (similar to how you'd garnish a sweet vermouth cocktail, which of course is a fortified red wine). Rub the citrus on the rim of the glass also if you have it. Then stir the garnish and sip gently. A regional commonality is to take a tiny pinch of salt either to your lips or to the glass directly (this is of course another thing done in cocktails), so do this if it tastes off.

When you re-cork the bottle, if it's a wood cork, you'll be thankful you've screwed it all the way through because that allows a slight bit of aeration in the freezer which is important in the next day or so if it lasts that long.

doubtful because they don't go after beer threads or fastfood threads (which would certainly involve a lot of pork products). probably just a broke NEET who thinks wine is a jewish trick to make them feel dumb
