Based on my experience Texans can't even point out other states on a map, except maybe california because it lives rent free in their minds. Much less other countries. Michigan really is a great state. The natural beauty in the state is unlike any other place in the US, and even the more industrialized places are very lush. It also is pretty dense, there is a lot of access in Michigan compared to literally any other midwestern state. Most of the midwestern states are totally fucking empty outside of the one or two major cities, Michigan actually has a lot of unique cities that offer a lot. 3,288 miles of coastline. Tons of great food, too, honestly the arabs in Dearborn and the migrants come in clutch, there is tons of great mexican food in the state, for example. It's a great state. 810

I lived in Michigan for 3 years, just outside Detroit and it was okay. Very good middle eastern food in Dearborn, and Jet's Pizza is an institution, but I actually preferred Cleveland when I lived there. Anything north of Detroit and Flint is based though and the Upper Peninsula is HYPER BASED. I visited St. Ignace and Mackinac Island and they were awesome. The best fudge I've ever had in my life was in Mackinac.

One time in Michigan my family was on vacation seeing waterfalls. Everyone was an absolute idiot and kept on making stupid jokes during the tour. Eventually the jokes turned into an awkward silence because no one knew what to say, and then some kid suddenly jumps into the water and gets carried away down the river. The water was 25 feet deep or more and was moving fast. The kid deliberately jumped right in and was gone in an instant. Everyone else kept on walking while his family freaked out. Nobody else cared because the kid was so stupid.

Michigan is really good to settle down but I wouldn't get too ahead of yourself in the "natural beauty" department. We have plenty of forest but most of it is hard to traverse or is private property. There are far, far worse places in the US to live. I did my undergrad at UCLA, I can't believe what pitiful conditions Californians live in. I am eternally grateful that I had a kino American childhood in Michigan. People in California live in this low trust, highly individualistic society that will rarely talk to you because it's too much of a hassle. This is the same exact brand who sells the "fresh" "take and bake" deep dish/detroit pizza at Walmart. (they also sell a breadstick with no redsauce)

They get them in frozen, and then stick them in a refrigerator and sell them thawed.
Thaw that shit in the fridge, and it cooks way quicker and ends up being way softer.

They arent bad buying them directly from walmart either, it may actually be cheaper but the toppings are slightly different.
