It always makes me wonder when I use some ground/low growing vegetable if some picker didn't wash his hands or if a rat shat on it etc. It's not really feasible to heat up lettuce, but what about beets, onions or carrots? If I want raw-ish vegetables like that, can I just throw then into boiling water for a minute, then pull them out and plop them into cold water? Is there any common way to disinfect stuff like that?

PS I mean boiling them still unpeeled ofc. The inside would still be raw, probably.

Wash in soap water and then keep it in a container with an ozone generator and UV lamp for 24 hours you paranoid fuck!

Do you know how many people a year die from salmonella on their lettuce??? It's not paranoid to ask, fuckwit.

Looks like the solution is to just eat MEAT.

Just rinse you paranoid freak. Or buy some salad wash tablets if you must.

I eat vegetables for health, not to castrate myself.

Nah, I think holding a beet in boiling water for a little while is actually the way to go. All your ideas were pretty terrible.

>salmonella can only kill you. Otherwise there's zero symptoms because... well, you haven't mentioned them yet and my pea brain can work off of the last 400 words of input at most
buddy, you don't want to catch salmonella.

with sushi, parasites are eliminated by freezing the fish at -20C or colder

freezing destroys many vitamins, but thanks for an honest suggestion.

What is this thread even if you know anything better? My granddad ate vegetables fertilized with human excrements and is still alive at age 85. Most shit gets pre washed at a factory before coming to the store because it would be full of dirt if they didn't. Where should the rat shit on the beet it grows underground, maybe mole shit if it dug his tunnel right over the one carrot you bought at the store. Oh boy I wish jannies would nuke this thread.

I guess if it really bothers you, try growing your own greens in sterilized media
you could also wash all your veg in alcohol, but that could get expensive because of dumb taxes

Is he eating shit right now? No? Guess his aged up thymus gland isn't actually battling the nightsoil's finest marine corps right now. Making the remark pointless.

Microbes won't be removed by a rinse, dimwit.
>Where should the rat shit on the beet it grows underground
Gee, I dunno, where through do you think the beet travels out of the ground? China?

Most vegetables are contaminated by the shit in water anyway.

parasite eggs don't spread like microbes, thankfully, so rinsing peeling will already minimize the chances for that.
