No, brown people literally do. Has a brown community ever gentrified a neighborhood? No, they only bring down the home values and deteriorate the education quality. I don't know a guy ran a Thai joint in nyc reccommened it to me like 20 yrs ago and it is good on dimsum and stuff like that, maybe the left coast crowd got into it. It really does have it's place, and it's not too liquidy / viscous like shark brand which is better in taste but doesn't stick to foods the same way.

Nowadays it's Mexican, it used to be hummus, before that it was Sriracha, meanwhile we had "ze bug", before that it was Korean, before that it was edible flowers and pick wild herbs, before that it was Japanese cuisine and before that it was forgotten vegetables and fruit aka heirloom. It got so bad there was even a t-shirt company called Fruit of the Loom that advertised on MTV in its prime and got acquired by Berkshire Hathaway, one of the biggest investment companies in the world.

It's not bland, but it is a pretty simple flavor, which I would argue is a strength that allows it to easily pair with a variety of things without overpowering the food you're putting it on.

because its not just garlic and chili, its got coriander and cumin and the base is roasted bell peppers with a specific type of chilli. its also got a lot of oil and no sugar so its good to cook with. fucking love harissa. but sriracha is better as a condiment for many things

>why did it become such a meme?
It became a mild hipster thing because it was the default cheap table sauce at "alternative" Asian restaurants (Viet/Thai) in urban areas. Eventually marketers seized on it and suddenly "sriracha" was everywhere, just like "black angus beef" or the current ridiculous "wagyu" fetish. So naturally hipsters like you had to move on to something else. There's nothing amazing about sriracha. But there's nothing wrong with it either, it's just a relatively mild all-purpose chili sauce, thicker than Tabasco (so better for wings, etc), and a more interesting flavor than Frank's. Also Huy Fong Sriracha is an American company which should be worth something.

>its flavour is pretty fucking bland.
