There's only one commercially produced anymore and it's in this state. It is really strong and pungent, but the whole makes up for the sum of its parts. Everything has to be so over-the-top that they cancel each other out. Very rye bread (pumpernickel), very strong mustard, fresh red onions, and smoked spread liverwurst. Preferably with a dark beer.
Had a friend who fell asleep watching a movie while we were making it, and I gave it to him half passed out. While he was eating it he seemed fine, but then a piece fell out on his lap and he went to eat it. He immediately woke up and said what the fuck is? The individual ingredient is overpowering, but the ensemble kind of cancels each other out.

It's literally in the OP, dude. Post a a regional food from where you're from and other people try to guess. Nobody is arguing about which regional foods are better than others. You posted something so obvious that anyone would know where it's from (because you can get shrimp and grits at a Southern place anywhere in the country). You even included the fucking name of the dish. That would be like posting gumbo, or deep dish pizza, or cheesesteak, or spam musubi. Nobody is trying to say their regional food is better. People are just posting things and seeing if other people know where it's from.

The thing about California burritos and carne asada fries is that they were basically developed as a stoner food for surfers/skaters in the 80's (i.e. people who were active all day and just wanted some cheap grindz after the sun went down). Nobody in California would put either of those things at the top of their list of significant regional foods from the state. Meanwhile in flyover land people have no problem praising their cheesesteaks, or chili dogs, or deep fried tenderloin sandwich, open faced cheese fry sandwich, deep fried frozen ravioli with Kraft parmesan and pre-made marinara, etc.

Good catch. Unfortunately they’re an overpriced tourist trap and don’t have very good food. Not recommended. Also there’s a crazy serial killer conspiracy in that exact area. In the past 15 or so years around 10 men have drowned in the river that runs through the heart of Boston (Charles River btw). It's barely 5 minutes away from Union Oyster House. Some people think there’s a maniac going around kicking fucked up frat boys into the river. I’m pretty sure it’s just blacked out retards slippity sliding on ice into the river.

Yes, Ernesto’s is much better than Regina, but that’s deep enough in the North End that you have to be careful walking home with your pie at night so you don’t get kicked in the fucking river by the Smiley Killer.

To wit:

> Since 2009, the bodies of more than 10 young men have been recovered from the Charles River in Boston, Massachusetts. While their deaths were ultimately ruled accidental or undetermined drownings by local officials, a team of retired investigators believes they could possibly be connected by a group of unknown serial killers. Known as the Smiley Face Killers, the alleged murderous gang targets college-aged men, dumps their bodies in local waterways and leaves behind smiley face symbols near the death sites.

The closest thing to luau is spinach, but the flavor is really different, and then steaming it in the it leaves adds a whole other flavor. It's not really something you can describe if you haven't tried it, but in my mind those are some of the most Hawaiian flavors.

We also have tomato based sauces with molasses. I generally use both. I often mix in vinegar based sauce in my slaw and put that on top of pulled pork with tomato based sauce for the nice iick of acidity.

SC mustard based bbq sauce is good though. I live right on the border

But your main point stands, I pity the fools who've never tasted pork roll, let alone had TWO options at the supermarket (Taylor AND generic).

I looked up prices based on some other anon recognizing a similar joint. The beer price was spot on including microbrews I never heard of. Brisket was offered at 18, but I'm sure with le heckin tip and taxes it probably came out to 30. All of this for an exceptionally cheap meal, considering the cut of meat, also considering classically, an entire slab of brisket that you can feed an entire large party with is 20 dollars.

Haven't picked up brisket for smoking in a while though. I imagine it's either more expensive or hipsters drove the price up.
