Blue American Spirits over here lad. Just ran out of the butter-rum tobacco I had for my pipe. I'm quitting all smoking and alcohol on the 1st of January. Been smoking for 15 years and finally ready to take a break. Quit 100 times before so I'm equipped and prepared for the break. Remember me on your smokes and takes boys, it's time for self-perfection.
Never understood the love of Newports OP, what's the attraction? Winston's were my first pack I ever smoked, got them from a guy in driver's ed who stole them from his mom. Still at it kek.

I just love menthols. Newports always had the most flavor imo even compared to more expensive menthol brands, a lot of them don’t taste as minty.
I hope you can quit fren, i believe in u!
I’m quitting cigs after I finish the 5 or so packs I have left. I have rlly bad breathing problems now after smoking half a pack a day for 2 years. Tobacco is fine (generally) imo but cigarettes kill ur lungs fast.

Snuff tobacco my friend. Its comparatively dirt cheap and the good stuff is delicious and hits the spot in the tobacco department in terms of fully enjoying the flavor due to it being a nasal product. And just like Tobacco pipes there's a lot of history behind it too if that sort of thing is interesting to you.

So yeah I'd highly recommend anyone interested to do a bit of research into the different types of tobacco snuff out there and order a sampler. Just tried to McCrystal's Glacier and was pleasantly surprised at how much its hitting the spot for me today, very refreshing which is what I needed because of poor sleep last night.

Nice, Bernard Aecht Alt Schmalzler is typically what I go for when I'm in the mood for a good schmalzler. Has a pretty strong tobacco hit as well. The other ones I've tried with them tend to be quite a bit sweeter which can be nice on occasion. Bernard in general is always comfy come wintertime with their schmalzlers and I love the Fichtennadel Spruce needle + menthol blend this time of year. Menthies in general just have such a nice variety and overall selection among brands.

Fichtennadel is great, and Jubilaeums is one of the best snuffs out there. However I don't like Polar Prise, it has some odd clashing flavors. I prefer Steife Prise (even though it tends to dry out my nose).
Bernard's schmalzlers are a bit on the harsh side, I'm more partial to the "fruit jam" character of those from Poeschl.

>> No.18680718

>>18679828

Interesting. Poschl is a brand I've somehow neglected to try over the years. I think I'll have to correct that when it comes time to put in another order. Do you have any recommendations in particular? I'm not too picky when it comes to variety I just like a good well made blend, though I see they do seem to specialize in schmalzlers as you say.

>> No.18680842

>>18680718
They produce a lot of snuffs under various sub-brands. I remember getting some "Jump" branded snuff in Austria several years ago, that was made by Poschl (I think it was an Austrian-market specific product). If you go to MrSnuff, you'll find they have a pretty wide variety of tinned snuffs. Unfortunately, I cannot order from them anymore (customs issues), and getting tobacco shipped from a continental online shop is an exercise in frustration and/or extreme patience.

I haven't tried many of their tinned snuffs, but I really liked Ozona President (which they apparently do not produce anymore, for some reason). Lowenprise is too cloying for my taste (too much anise). Gletscher Prise used to be good, but I think they changed the recipe, for the worse, a few years ago. Andechs Kloster is good, though some people might find it a bit too sweet. Gawith Apricot (yes, it's made by Poschl, despite carrying the name of a different snuff maker) is acceptable for a fruit-flavored snuff, the menthol helps rein in the apricot flavor's 'perfumy' tendencies.
Of the schmalzlers, I'd go for Sudfrucht (SF) and/or Doppelaroma (D), for that classic jamminess. However, Poschl schmalzlers are packed in sachets, and they tend to lose aroma if stored too long before use. You might occasionally get a dud. This is different from something like Bernard's Gekachelter Virginie, which is super harsh, very strong manure smell right out of the box, and actually benefits from air exposure to mellow out.

I also picked up Ozona President as I had recalled that it was my very first snuff years ago when I was shopping and wanted to see see how it held up. Which is why you should probably get one of those nasal hydration sprays, like the German dude in the video I've posted mentions (dexpanthenol or seawater), and use it to soften up any deposits, to make blowing your nose easier. Yeah drying out can be a problem especially if you use snuff rather frequently ie. topping up multiple uses per session etc. and not cleaning properly which I would imagine is common among snuff users. I typically am a very moderate user however, keeping it mostly to 2-4 sniffs per day and don't have much of a problem with it. Also just to put it out there I blow and clean my nose grug style. Its a pretty private habit anyway since there aren't many users out there and I don't worry about it what people might think of it. Fact is its one of the healthiest and enjoyable ways to use tobacco, and last I checked the majority of our taste receptors are in the nasal cavity.

As one can imagine this is a dirt cheap habit. Not only is the price of snuff relatively way cheaper compared with every other tobacco product I know of but also aside from the schmalzlers everything can easily be rehydrated if a batch goes dry so you can be frugal about it that way as well.

Yeah, those convoluted, need to mess around with glycerol. Easier to just cut it with a fresh batch and store it in an airtight container in the freezer, taking out max 10 g at a time. Or use it to dilute a heavily flavored snuff (you can mix schmalzler and snuff, in fact Bernard has one such mixture) which might be too strong for your liking.

I like both the English and German dudes' videos, despite the different styles.

Tobacco is the best drug ever, it just feels so good. Don't get addicted tho, you lose the joy and only feel compulsion after a while.
I gave myself a rule to only smoke socially once, and ended up making up excuses to hang put with smokers that I didn't even like.
After kicking that, I went baccy free for few months and had no issues controlling my amounts since, it's a special occasion treat for me now.
Might be because I quit cigarettes and only do pipe and cigar now, those only give me light cravings for about a day, easy to ignore.

Within the price range? No. Most cigar companies are turbojews or too boutique to be affordable for daily smoking.

I smoke at least 2 cigars a day, so $10 cigars are overpriced and stupid.

Agnorsa Leaf New Cuba is a great $1 stick, punches above it's weight.

Fuente's mixed-filler cigars are good, including the curly head, my only issue is that some are plugged.

Whoever took over the Nat Sherman Panamerica line makes a great chocolatey cigar in the robustito.

Nubs are good but overpriced for what they are.

I've always ignored these threads since they don't seem on-topic for the board, but I'll bite now.
I've been smoking cheap bag tobacco for the better part of a year now. Pic related is the best I can get from the smoke shop near where I live. For the price of a carton of cigs, I can buy 200 tubes and well over a month's worth of 'baccy. I smoke menthol because I'm a faggot and live minty smoke.

Pic related is my humble little cig packer. My wife got it for me for, like, 20 US shekels or some shit. It's electric and works great.
This cheap pipe tobacco packs very well, doesn't even need to be further ground for cigs.
Packs & smokes nice and steady in my pipe too.
Pardon the mess, this isn't our main bathroom I smoke in, so I don't care as much about it being dirty. Well ventilated though. Don't want smoke smell in the rest of the house, but I also don't want to go outside every hour or two where it's cold.

Anyone else smoke the cheap shit? Recommendations?

Oh, and to note for the unenlightened, this cheap, dry bulk pipe tobacco smokes a lot heavier than prepacked cigs. Where you could go for one every hour or so, the hit from these will last you twice as long. It's a lot heavier, and with how I have my morning ritual of having a stoge each dat along with my morning piss, it can often give you a nice light-headed buss for a few minutes after. From personal experience, that buzz hits even harder if you leave the tobacco out over night instead of keeping it sealed and fresh.

Been there, grow your own or buy from a "undocumented" grower.
Caveat being that growers typically cut it for ciggers since that's most of their customers.

Same way overindulgence in food leads to obesity and massively increased cancer risk, overindulgence in tobacco does the same.
Cancer incidence is on the rise last 3 decades, and yet smoking rate keeps going down. How come anon?

I wouldn't know where to find someone that can sell cigar leaves, I think I can
import them from the US with no tax and roll them myselves because even without a tax cigars are expensive as fuck the cheapest I can get is $10 per.

For pipe tobacco, it's almost $50 for 45 grams they all come in a sealed bag and I can't buy a bunch of tins to sample so if I buy something I don't like that's a lot of money and tobacco wasted.

I actually do hop over to Baguetteland to buy tobacco lol. It's only slightly less expensive but they've got a much better range over there. MacBaren blends are much easier to get a hold of, for instance. I'm actually off to Paris to get some Semois in the new year.
>pic related: my last bag of Mixture
I hear in Leafland the range is quite good; you can get Cornell and Diehl, Seattle Pipe Club and Esoterica? Mad how you can't just nip across the border though. That's properly fucking gay. Though desu, if I brought back enough, I'm sure the fags that """guard""" our border would try exactly the same thing.
