this is $30 in canada

>> No.18658119

28 wings for $30 canadian dollars seems reasonable

>> No.18658121

Wings have gotten so ungodly expensive if you order them for a restaurant. I went to order some from wingstop the other day and 20 boneless wings was like $24, insanity

>> No.18658239

>>18658117
yeah? like 20 chickens lived had to be concieved, incbated, hatched, grown, fed, flaughtered, butchered, transported, cooked and put in a togo box for you
seems like a deal if you think about it

You realize every part of a chicken gets used, right? Like that meme about indians using the whole buffalo except real. If one chicken's wings are sold to a wing place, its breasts and thighs might be sold in the grocery store, its back meat can become McNugget slime, its asshole can be cat food and so on.
Or the whole thing might be ground up and turned into "boneless" wings that OP would have paid $22 CAD for, his question still standing.

>> No.18658300

>>18658239
why don't they breed chickens with more than 2 wings?

cooking the meat on the bone imparts more flavor
it's hard to market a thigh for the sports bar market, even if it'd be fucking delicious in the same sauces

>>18658117
$30 CAD is like $2 USD so that seems like a steal to me.

>> No.18658336

the US is just as expensive, wings are $1 a wing there as well. also chicken wings are a shitty foodstuff anyway, can still get cheap food in canada just have to go to foreign restauraunts.

I'm surprised it's that cheap bar wings are like $17 for 10 where I live. Looks like you've got food for at least two meals if you're not a fat ass, three even. $10 for serving of protein plus some potatoes and a small salad and you're looking at like an $11 meal.

wings are goofy ah expensive

>cooking the meat on the bone imparts more flavor
It's not just cooking the meat on the bone. "Boneless wings" aren't wings at all, they're just chicken nuggets, which are made from breast meat, which is always going to be far less flavorful than wing meat.

>> No.18658516

>>18658473
pretty much, but i go to a wing joint that makes "boneless" wings and real ones the same price
i think it's because it's kind of a family joint/sports bar hybrid, so they can milk parents who bring their kids along for overpriced nugs

Buy them yourself, guy. Costs about 15$ (CAD) for 1.5 kilo of wings (about 50 pieces) and you can use any fucking seasoning/sauce you want. Fucking easy to make too. 40min 350-400 degrees, flip them after 20. If you want the fried texture without the actual deep frying mess, do this: mix flour + seasoning, pat your wings dry, dredge the wings in the flour mix, place on a wire rack, then brush olive oil on both sides of the wing to humidify the wing (it shouldn't be sopping wet.) The oil will fry the flour while it cooks. I've tried the baking powder trick, but it changes the taste, there's a bitter taste.
