I don't know why they put the thermometer in the breast instead of the thigh. The dark meat always takes longer to cook so the thermometer location makes it less reliable for the whole bird.

While this is true, if you cooked the leg and thigh to around 190/200 like it's supposed to be the breast would be overcooked and dry. Not sure what the solution is to this problem unless you pre-butcher the turkey and cook the sections separately
