grate potatoes, wash until water is clear, toss is clarified butter and cook in a cast iron pan;medium heat, stiring in the cripy bits until you maximize crispiness.

I understand overestimating how well something will stick together under deep frying, I've had failures like that once or twice, but I don't understand the sausage. It's the wrong kind to go with hash browns, it's the wrong kind to be deep fried if you were going to deep fry any sausage, like, this speaks to fundamental misunderstanding of multiple aspects of cooking. Post some more of your food OP I'm curious now
