My uncle is in Florida, I'm a bit worried for him but he has a generator so hopefully he'll be okay.
I live in NYC and I was here for hurricane Sandy, it was pretty crazy. We pretty much just ate food we had cooked and nuts and hot pockets for a few days, luckily we didn't lose power. I was living with my parents and my gf at the time asked to come stay with me because she lost power but I had to tell her no because my parents would lose their minds.

Fair point, we're pretty lucky to have relatively few non-9/11 disasters here. I remember having to line up for buses because the subways were closed down and we're still doing repairs to tunnels and infrastructure 10 years later.

they are actually a good thing, every time something catastrophic people here come together in the best of ways, i hated my neghibrors and they hate me but when shit went down they were helping me chop up a tree blocking my driveway and they'd come over wither their coffee pot to plug into my generator in the mornings ...once the power came back on we were back to hating each other
it really restored my faith in humanity that when shit gets hard people come together

When Hurricane Harvey hit Houston, I was working at a liquor store and finishing up college. I was the only one there and the store was still open for some reason and people were showing up to get liquor. Then the power went out and a cop stopped by to say just shelter in place until they drained the lake to get the water level down, so it just locked the door and there were a couple of ghetto ass niggers in there with me and a few other random people.
