made chicken soup from frozen backs and necks and cooked gizzards in it too. picked off the meat, cut up the gizzards and made it all into pilaf with rice, green bellpepper, carrots, onion and celery i had in the fridge. serves me well enough for today and tomorrow, the soup goes into the freezer.

stews are a good way start learning
they are very forgiving and don't need precise measurement or even all the ingredients, my stew was just what i had laying around
but you can never go wrong with a classic beef stew

Simple Beef stew
ingredients:
>4 carrots
>3-4 stalks celery

chop vegetables (this is really up to you)
cut beef into 1"inch cubes and very light dust with flour
sear beef in pot medium heat until browned (only do half the meat at a time)
set meat aside and saute veggies (***except potatoes***) add spices then deglase pot add stock and meat in and simmer until the carrots are soft (about 1 hour) then add potatoes and simmer until they are soft, salt to taste and you are done

you might need to add water/beer if its not wet enough

you're just using it to make a roux with the extra grease from the meat
just don't add the flour right at the end or that raw flour taste won't cook out
if you want to make really good toast the flour first

I went out on a date tonight bros. We had an appetizer sampler platter.
The appetizer sampler platter was really mediocre.
First fried pickle
>7/10, perfect
Rest of the fried pickles
>3/10 soggy bullshit
Steak and Cheese Egg Rolls
>DNF - False advertising, one roll cut in half. Not "rolls". Otherwise 5/10, it was good but also the worst steak and cheese egg roll i've ever had, out of like 4
French fries
>8/10, the best I've ever had. I found god in these potatoes.
Pulled pork slider
>2/10, bad but not enough to make me feel sick
Otherwise, the date went really well. I'm 85% certain she'd have come over if I'd asked, and 100% certain that if she'd had have done, she'd would have had to have been repulsed by my depression den and just left. We agreed to see eachother this weekend. Until then, I sink

I made some tagliatelle alfredo with garlic shrimp. Was really nice. No veggies though. Meant to cook up some brussels sprouts but I remembered too late
