You got a deepfryer? Cool.
How often do you use it and for what? How about cleaning? A mess I guess?

not much of a mess at all filters are cheap and i have a china cap to strain it after every use.

>> No.18343193

I just use a cast iron pan, the shape works great for deep frying and you can use a coffee filter and mason jar to strain and reuse the cooking fat. Deep fryers usually don't work with lard or tallow I've heard

This is standard kitchen equipment in my country. Either they have a deepfryer or they don't fry things at home at all. Not once have seen or heard anyone doing it in a regular pan in my country.

You absolutely do not want one of those fast food-style fryers in your home, anons are right in that your whole home will end up smelling like oil and that it will make a mess, those kinds of fryers weren't meant for home use. This >>18343236 is what you should be looking for as it functions much closer to a regular cooing pot and therefore it's much easier to handle and clean and makes minimal mess in comparison.

And there's always the air fryer alternative.

I use my deepfryer about once a day, sometimes twice
Cleaning it is a pain, so i only do it about once a week (although I filter and clean the oil more)
Chicken, bacon, homemade pizza pockets, apple hand pies, there's honestly not a lot I don't cook in it.
Fries are tricky, though.

Induction cooktops have made deep fryers obsolete.

I just put oil in a pot, set the burner to 450 degrees, turn 360 degrees and walk away. After I've fried all my food, I just take the pot, strain out the crumbs, and put the oil in the freezer.

I own a cheap "professional style" deep fryer very similar to the one in the pic.
it's relatively easy to clean, everything apart from the control panel attached to the electric resistance can go in the dishwasher. It needs a lot of oil (3 liters), but you can filter it and reuse it at least 5 or 6 times.
I use it outdoor a few times a year, usually for fish (fritto misto or fried fresh anchovies) and fries.

>> No.18343770

i have that exact one also, after frying i let the oil cool and pour it through a coffee filter in a funnel back into the oil bottle, it good for a few fries depending on what you're frying.
>>18343187
i fry about once a week and i take the fryer outside on the porch so it doesn't stink up the house and make the whole kitchen greasy.

Frying at home is like making pizza at home at first it's a big ordeal but after a few time you get a pattern figured and its no worse then anything else.

that is a good way to do it but if you fry things like breaded chicken you'll get a layer of flour on the bottom that kinda prevents it from heating right, when its still liquid pour through a strainer and use a rubber spatula to scrape the gunk off and give it a quick wash before pouring the oil back in. a little extra work but your grease will last longer and your food will taste better

I just use a regular tall stainless steel pot. Fill it 1/3rd of the way with oil, put the burner on high, and when the oil looks swirly toss in a bread
cube and see how long it takes to brown. When it browns quickly, the oil is ready. If I'm frying frozen items, I leave the heat on high, otherwise I turn it down to maybe 3/4 of the way.
The big stove burner puts more heat into the oil than any electric appliance, and the tall pot minimized splattering.

Likely to just buy a desktop one that holds like 2L oil.

We only changed the oil completely when you couldn't see the spider beyond the surface.

It's more about the smoking point than the flavor.
Your average joe isn't going to need to change 3L of oil like you say; for months if they are deep frying every other week.
Simply straining the oil to get the pieces out every now and then is fine.

Im mean, because its heats up and the oil doesnt get all inside the chicken, just enough to cook it from outside. But frying in a pan, if you dont know how to do it, you may end up not using enough oil, and therefore you will have to keep adding, and because its not hot enough, your food will be oily as fuck.

Thats my question, if its really helps or basically its better to learn how to fry in a pan and call it a day?
