What’s the best method for getting sandwich bread ready for French Toast?
It’s too wet to leave in the open air so I assume broiling / toasting it for a few minutes is best for allowing it to absorb more of the liquid / maybe stay crunchy yet soft after cooking

just finished making it for like the 8th time in the past month. never bothered pre-toasting it, it soaks it up just fine after coming out of the freezer ~30 minutes before. the more important part i've found is making sure there's enough butter in the pan for each side and that it's hot enough. it will stick if it's not hot enough (stainless steel).

Let your bread get a little stale.

A little mold never hurt anyone.

Traditionally French toast is a way of using up stale bread. Hence why it doesn't come out soggy. If you're using fresh bread dry it out in the oven for a while on very low.

Yeah is fungus which is different from mold. Not that it's an important distinction.

Leave it out overnight just for one night. It won’t go moldy.
Alternatively, buy dense, thick sliced bread such as challah.

I just dry it out in the oven for a few mins. I don't like to toast it proper, just dry. Also, stale bread makes for perfect french toast.

Use French bread

>> No.18341270

take a medium sized fork and poke the bread every 1/4 inch and then toast on the lowest setting and eject it around halfway

what kind of autism is this? You use stale bread for french toast

this is like making rice specifically to make fried rice.
