How similar is the coke being sold across different countries?
I tried some Coca-Cola imported from the USA and it was fucking awful. The locally sold european coke is way better. I know the sugar is different, corn syrup for americans and beet sugar in my country but is that really all there's to it?
The USA Coke was truly awful. USA Dr Pepper is even worse, makes your mouth feel like it's coated in some chemical.

I think it's more about what it's sold in. Glass bottle > can > plastic bottle > fountain drinks. Glass keeps the fizziness best and fountain drinks are the least fizzy.

Also I'm sorry to tell you that the New Coke® switch was used to reduce the price of 7X by substituting expensive neroli oil for cheaper orange blossom oil (same source, different extraction).
