I like wasabi but every time I eat it, it completely melts the taste buds off of my tongue. Could I actually being eating it incorrectly or something? I'm just spreading a little tab on the top of a piece of sushi and I can feel it burn through my tongueskin as soon as I take a bite, then I can't taste properly for several days

Usually when they put wasabi in sushi, they put it under the fish and ontop of the ricebed. It still hits when you eat it but its not as hard as having it exposed on top.

you are probably having a allergic reaction, wasabi is only mild

wasabi is intensly spicy actually, but it wears off quickly.

You're not supposed to eat it like that. It's only or decoration. Stop watching so much tranime

Opposite for me. I'm pretty sensitive to capsaicin spiciness but no matter how much wasabi I use with sushi it never bothers me.
I think part of it is psychological in that I'm aware what gives wasabi its bite doesn't ever c9me back to haunt you when you're taking a shit later, unlike capsaicin which you unfortunately do have receptors for everywhere including up your asshole.

Get real wasabi instead of the fake horseradish stuff.

It's a mustardy sinus-dominant heat. The heat on your togue is mild.

your pic is wasabi-flavoured horseradish
put less

this pic is the real wasabi, and it's lots milder. if you've been going to upscale Jap restaurants before this, perhaps that's what you're used to

im actually crying right now. i just looked up growing wasabi and it takes 2-3 years. i actually want to scream and shit my pants right now.

why, you're not the fucking farmer

also, apparently it's not cost-effective to replicate wasabi growing conditions in most climes, which is one of the reasons the root is not more widely available and the wasabi-flavoured horseradish is loads more common

or so I heard

Is this what they mean when you go to report a post and one of the options is “low quality”
