Mine too, I think. Last went to my local Chipotle about a month ago. The line stretched out the door. I took my place in the line and once I realized I moved about 10 paces in 20 minutes I said fuck it and went to Arby's.

Mine went from great to dogshit in a year. Now food is barely warm, wrap technique is poor, they don't let liquid drip off before placing on the tortilla, regularly online orders are not ready despite the online app saying they are, and just a few months ago, as they were having a loud conversation, the woman rolling my burrito with her face like 8 inches from it burst out laughing with a percussive BWAH at which point I politely refused that burrito and requested a new one to be remade, I could see spittle clearly being shot on that thing.

They could pay them more, and probably should, but fucking dealing with a million karens with a bunch of fucking orders that are impossible whims you can't put a price on. The unreal demands people put on these employees just isn't worth it.

No, you place your order ahead of time, online or on an app, pay for it, and GTFO. It's not that fucking hard.

Meanwhile, most immigration came to a near halt during COVID-19. Despite the recession, wages have gone up and unionization has increased. It's almost like immigrants actually decrease wages and are SCABS.

Chipotle was amazing back in the early 2010. Then as cost saving measure the moved from preping their meat on site to distributing premarinated meat in bags. They also replaced the animal fats in their beans with vegetable oil after vegans started complaining. I hope Chipotle crashes and burns. I use to eat almost every day in college, now I wouldn't even eat it if you gave it to me for free.

I do doordash and last time I went they didn't have lettuce, white rice, or fajita peppers due to "supply chain" issues and it's just a couple of 17 year olds trying to make 3 bowls a piece for every customer of which there are 18 in line while fulfilling 40 take out orders.

Given how expensive chipotle already is in comparison to other restaurants in the fast-food range, I imagine they would be competing with to-go orders from local mexican restaurants and such if they jumped their prices too quickly.
So I wouldn't be surprised if franchisees are juggling their operating costs if they are faced with a situations where keeping prices from shooting up too quickly is putting them in the red, or if corporate is pushing for them to keep prices as stable as they can.

I live in California, local Mexican restaurants are everywhere they taste better and are cheaper. But still anytime I swing by for work they have a pretty sizeable line. I think their customer base is pretty damn loyal so I'm just gonna assume it's some execs wanting to keep the cocaine mountain sky high.

For grabbing lunch during a break it makes sense that a lot of people want something consistent in terms of quality, convenience, and time. Also chipotle uses quality ingredients compared to other stuff that falls under fast-food chains, so people probably go there over a burger place, panda express, etc. for that reason.

Yeah i used to work at Chipotle and can tell you it's because back of house/cook/prep slaves away like dogs as dirty hot greasy dishes pile up and there's nobody to do them and you have to literally always have chicken cooking on the grill meanwhile FoH is 3 idiot college girls who are each responsible for one task each like register, steaming a tortilla, or scooping in the beans and they bitch about how hard they work meanwhile one guy is responsible for coming in at 6 in the morning to make the tea, make all the guacamole, and never stop prepping rice on top of doing all the dishes.

I worked there too. Fuck washing dishes, fuck all the corporate horse shit and the customers asking just to get a little more meat when they would literally weigh out how much meat we using in ounces compared to the scoop sizes. No more meat for you, fat ass. Anyway, I still like the food but they're always out of something: black beans, barbacoa, fajitas, lettuce. And that shit used to be like $6.50 when they first started out. To hell with that.
