I've just been told by my doctor my blood sugar levels are in the prediabetic range.

What foods should I eat and meals can I make to lower my blood sugar levels and reverse this?

Cut out the sugar, particularly HFCS, and go on a walk through the park before or after work each day. This will help you get things in check. Read the nutrition labels on your groceries, there's sugar in so many things you wouldn't expect. Good luck, anon.

Soda and sweets are the easiest to drop. You basically want to reduce simple carbohydrates. Eat more whole grain products instead of white bread and noodles.
Also, start with exercise. Any form of cardio is good and will help you lose weight and raise insulin sensitivity in your body. If you're hambeast mode, start by taking walk and going longer every day.

DIABETES HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS, RISING BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS ARE JUST SOMETHING THAT HAPPENS AS A RESULT OF WHAT DIABETES ACTUALLY IS, WHICH IS BEING RESISTANT TO INSULIN

YOUR INSULIN IS NO LONGER ABLE TO BRING YOUR BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS BACK DOWN

THE PROBLEM IS NOT BLOOD SUGAR

IT IS YOUR RESISTANCE TO THE EFFECTS OF INSULIN

STOP EATING FOODS THAT CREATE INSULIN SPIKES IN YOUR BODY AND IT WILL ALLOW YOUR BODY TO HEAL ITSELF

UNIRONICALLY DO KETO FOR 3-6 MONTHS AND PRACTICE FASTING IN THE MIDDLE OF IT

STATISTICALLY YOUR DOCTOR'S ADVICE IS MORE LIKELY TO KILL YOU THAN MINE

It's about insulin resistance you faggot. Measuring someone's blood sugar levels to detect diabetes is absolutely retarded because blood sugar levels will only look like a problem after the damage has already been done. It can take upwards of 10 years of eating garbage before your blood sugar levels start to be a problem.

And it's not "sugar" that's the problem, rather it's anything which increases insulin resistance. I cannot stress enough that it's insulin resistance which is the core central problem. I'm confident that insulin resistance is the root cause of some of the biggest killers in the west right now.

This.
Intermittent fasting. Cut all processed carbs. And start learning the glycemic index of foods you eat. You want as low as possible, preferably under 40 if not less. Be very VERY weary of (((zero calories zero sugar))) products cause most of them have other type of shit with insane GI like maltodextrin.
If you want something sweet then the only sweeteners you can use is stevia, erythritol and xylitol. And even those with measure.
Doing this 3 months now. Not easy but you get used to it. Plus without the retarded sugars and the fasting (I do 16-8) your energy levels skyrocket.
Good luck

I'm a type one diabetic which honestly should be called something different at this point cause it's my immune system that destroyed my insulin production, not being an insulin-resistant fatty like OP.

But the diet rules are the same. Keto anons are right

Low carb to no carb diet.
Cut out processed shit
Soda? Cut that shit out and drink diet soda if you must drink that goysyrup but enjoy your cancer. Drink water / coffee / unsweet tea faggot
Eat mostly protein and vegetables.
I aim to eat AT MOST 15g of carbs per meal. My a1c is 5.5.

all this and the other keto anons have said

My biggest advice, kick this off with a 3 day water fast. You’re guaranteed to drop into ketosis (Buy a Ketojoy monitor if you’d like to see the proof) but more importantly you’re going to notice a few things:
- How often you have a weird compulsion to eat
- How sweet processed food is after the fact
- How much all that processed carb junk was fucking up your GI, etc

It’s tough. For the first month, I literally would walk over to my pantry, open it and stare like a fucking loser. I never realized what a pathetic simp-like relationship I had to goyslop. But then suddenly the mental clarity hits, you’ll feel more drive and aggression and energy and honestly, it’s glorious. I’ll back off Keto once I hit my goals, but this feels perfectly fine.

PS…eat veggies or else you’ll have hellish bowel movements.

Something I forgot to mention, keep meals simple. Try to have a shopping list of maybe 10 to 12 things at most. Simplicity is your friend in keeping to the path.

-No heavily processed food
-No sweetened drinks, coffee, tea, water only (maybe milk, but don't overdo it, kefir or fermented milk is a better choice)
-Minimize alcohol consumption
-No added sugar
-No white bread, white rice, etc
-Eat whole grains and fruits sparingly

Nobody, and I mean nobody who does this ever gets type 2 diabetes. Before sugar and garbage processed grains became widely available, type 2 diabetes was exclusively a disease of alcoholics.

>>18191086
Not really what he said, and what doctors typically advise is not keto even though evidence is increasingly pointing to most metabolic syndrome related issues in this country coming down to an excess of carbs and especially processed sugar in the diet. Most doctors basically advise people to get on the insulin roller coaster and send their patients into a slow and managed diabetic decline instead of a quick and catastrophic one.

>>18191088
I've never seen a quality study actually draw a clear link between red meat and any health issue. What they do is associate people who eat red meat with health issues. Because frankly the folks who eat a lot of red meat probably haven't paid attention to other health advice and also eat a lot of sugar, drink alcohol, smoke, etc. Nutrition studies seldom manage to convincingly control for other lifestyle differences.

Salt is bad for you. Google it. Salt makes you fat and diabetic.
Produce that is salted more than usual is obviously terrible for you. Like meat.
Here's the glycemic index, and why it should matter to you: https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/nutrition-and-healthy-eating/in-depth/glycemic-index-diet/art-20048478
Then glycemic load comes in: https://lpi.oregonstate.edu/mic/food-beverages/glycemic-index-glycemic-load

tl;dr:
-Never skip breakfast, it kickstarts your bowels and biorythm/sleep pattern. Breakfast can be minuscule but should have lots of fiber
-Most fruit and veg is ok especially early in the day
-Supermarket bread, buns, patties and other cake like constructions are utter garbage
-Anything premade that comes prepackaged and has more than 5 ingredients listed is filth. Sauces, crips, chips, frozen pies/cakes/mussels/vegetables, soft drinks, you name it.
-Avoid foods that are typically consumed with this garbage, like meat, especially garbage meats that require lots of "gravy" or "sauce": turkey, pink slime/hamburger, barbecue.
-Buy fresh, buy daily, buy in season, buy directly, buy locally, from small producers. Make your own sauces, make your own bread, start fermenting.

Keto. Not a meme. I'm a type 1 diabetic. About 10 years ago I got tired of the archaic "carb-counting" approach to my diet/insulin doseage regimen and went high-fat, very low-carb, moderate protien. My insulin sensitivity shot way up. I ended up using 30% less overall. My A1c went down a lot. I lost 20lbs of bodyfat over two years. I recommended it to older, fatter type 2 diabetics I know and the ones who did it completely reversed their diabetes.
