I'm watching a cooking show and the guy put hard boiled eggs in it.
Not a new idea, but why do this? I've made hundreds of them without it. Does it add something to the flavor, or is it just for looks?
Also, I'm a meat purist so I don't bother with glazes and sauces. I don't like drowning it in ketchup.

The heat from the hardboiled eggs cooks the meatloaf witch hard boils the egg.

They call it Embutido. Its usually steamed.

that's it. The eggs are sliced across in the slices. But they're cooked twice, so rubbery and nasty. Leave them out.

>>18099390
>Also, I'm a meat purist so I don't bother with glazes and sauces. I don't like drowning it in ketchup.
Ketchup has a raw taste, so I'd not use it to drown out bites you consume, either. Though, you could put some ketchup into the mixture when making the loaf, along with mustard, a lot of people do.

I put together a basting glaze that cooks on the top and sides during the last half of cooking. I probably slather it over the top 3x and let it cook into a sticky glaze that browns well. In a small bowl, heinz chili sauce plus brown sugar, ginger or makoto dressing, plus chinese 5 spice or more just allspice (which is part of the chili sauce recipe), lots of black pepper, splash of worchestershire, mustard powder, garlic powder. Sometimes, I drizzle a bit of molasses or honey. Thin layer on top, usually using the back of a spoon to smooth it out. Repeat twice more every 15 minutes, until thick glazed dried on top.
Zero need to supplement with any sauce at the plate while eating it.
Your meatleaf is small, likely 1lb. If I am making meatloaf, it's going to be 3lbs of beef, and a whole carton of mushrooms with flavorful celery, onion, garlic, parsley.
