Has anyone owned one of these (or a similar product)? How do they compare to conventional (quality) rice cookers?

rice cookers or the electric lunchbox?
the lunchbox is convenient and you just need to turn it on and -should- make great rice, the brand makes great rice cookers though
in general its just far better, google it n stuff, as with rice cookers you can cook other stuff in it too and it has veryg ood options, cooking rice in a pot produces lower quality rice and is more difficult plus higher maintenance, all you need to do with a rice cooker is rinse rice (if you choose to), add water and rice, and done
if you eat rice a lot its just better in every way
again since im op i dont know much about the bonsai but i have a rice cooker and it is 10/10

with rice cookers you can just set it and forget it. no need to watch the stove.
use the stove top if you cook rice every once in a while. get a rice cooker if you eat rice regularly.

>variety of settings for things like desired softness on nicer models
>can automatically detect grain type, excess water, etc.
>virtually foolproof
>spare you a spot on the stove
>easy to clean
>keep warm feature
>positive psychological reinforcement from hearing the zojirushi jingle
>some of them look cute :3

if you cook rice at least a few times a week, it's a no-brainer

i love how you think that just because something isnt gourmet it means its not
good
also rice cookers can do other things like steaming and slow cooking so its not
just for rice, but ok boomer i guess
