I'm pretty sure they want this to happen so that they don't overwhelm the wagies. You only get to see the full menu once you pull up to the speaker, the local menu probably isn't the same as the online menu, and they arrange things in a weird order so you have to scan everything to find what you want. It's worse at a place that has screens. I hate trying to order at the counter at a McDonald's that has screens for the menu. They don't show the full menu so you have to wait until the powerpoint show cycles back around to find what you want.

Here in Texas all the DQs in the cities and suburbs are dogshit. However, once you go to a small town DQ, like a 3,000 person town, it’s some of the best fast food you will ever eat. Most treat their local DQ as a community center and everyone who works there puts pride into their product. After a football game, dance, or having a sleepover with your friends? DQ is the place to be. DQ is to those simple folk as Pizza Hut is to 80’s and 90’s kids who lived in the suburbs.

i think you missed the point. if it takes longer for a customer at the window to order, it's an easier job for them. it's dumbing down something that's already easy that can help sales because it reduces the amount of error. these mouth breathers need 1 minute to process the order (and yet they still fuck it up.)

It's the soft-serve. For some reason that style of icecream isn't available nearly anywhere it seems so DQ chose that to be it's little marketing niche. It's really worked out for them obviously.

Also they started serving other food (Remember when 'Braizer' DQ's used to be special?) and eventually they all became 'Grill and Chill'- so even if you had a group of people that just wanted ice-cream, the other folks in the party could still get something to eat. Hence how they have a market I guess.
