I forgot to mention that I also hope the meat is also succulent and juicy

just get a shopping cart from your grocery store, fill with charcoal, flip it on the side and grill on top

Fill with charcoal and then flip on its side? Sounds like a method that might work, but you need some type of lid.

I have a traeger and all you can make on it is meat that tastes like a cigarette
it's not worth it
you're better off with an air fryer

If you then stand on the bit holding the handle in place, you can lift the other side of the trolley handle for a make shift weapon should anyone attempt to steal your new grill rack.

That's a $350 BBQ at most

As long as you know the limitations of a pellet grill beforehand, go for it. You won't be searing steaks and the like as effectively as gas/charcoal grill.

I have a Camp Chef pellet grill. Camp Chef has a line of pellet grills that had a propane burner attachment. I believe the grill box is about 12"x12".

They just came out with a hybrid pellet/gas grill, but its stupid expensive compared to their other products.

get a stand alone electric smoker. an electric smoker wont run out of fuel mid smoke on a holiday ruining the meat course of the meal

its like an oven that makes smoke and you can truly leave it for hours and not have to fuck with it

I have a Pit Boss and I love it. Everything smoked on it is all of the adjectives: moist, tender, succulent, juicy...

Did beef ribs for the 4th and they were kino.

would they be good for a reverse sear?

They're pretty nice and convenient, but it's best to think of it as a convection oven with a smoke function rather than a grill.

I have never used a pellet grill to cook a steak so I cannot comment on it. I am sure someone will correct me, but if you sear a steak you cooked on the pellet grill would you not lose the smoke flavor?

Some pellet grills allow you to use direct heat to sear. I have never used this feature because I think its a waste of pellets and there are more efficient alternatives.

>would you not lose the smoke flavor?
I havent tried it, since I use charcoal for the whole cook and get a good crust, but I dont think you would lose the smoke flavor. I'd think of it like a marinade that has penetrated decently, its going to stay there afaik

but also in the case of a reverse sear, I'm not sure how long you could really smoke it before that and the sear would cook it beyond your intended doneness. I guess you could set the pellet smoker to a really low heat

if you want to
but that is a rather high price for that
similar and good set-up like that is about $400 where I live (northern VA)

Yeah this is absolutely the best way to think of a pellet grill. I love mine and use it for all sorts of stuff, including actually baking bread and casseroles and whatnot, but it is truly a wood-fired convection oven
