There's a bottle of this sitting on the shelf at the liquor store down the road for $60. I heard JW green was discontinued, is that true? Is it worth the $60?

No

It was discontinued in 2012, but brought back in like 2016 or 2017.

any scotch that's also 60 dollars will be better than JWgreen
therefore it's not worth it

Rally likes it. What’s good about it is pure malt whiskey, albeit 4 different malt whiskeys. It only contains malt whiskey and no grain whiskey has been added

Most Scotch lovers prefer green to blue even though green is a lot less expensive. Blue is NOT pure malt whiskey. Green IS a blend of 4 different malt whiskies and contains no “grain alcohol”

Got a bottle for about $30 around Christmas time. It was pretty good but not $60-$70 good, for that amount you can get a nice bottle of Ardbeg or Lagavulin.

i like how you try to put a negative connotation on grain whiskey

No they don't. Blue completely outclasses green. It's just that Blue doesn't compete against it's same priced competition, whereas it can be argued Green does.

Also if you've ever tried a home blend you'd know that blending single malts also always results in a reduced intensity unless the whiskies were very similar to start with.

intensity wouldn't be as big an issue if they didn't strip any and all oils from their products and only bottle at 40%

Anon knows, any aged scotch loses its entire value by dilluting it to international standards. Thats where dutyfree bottlings are the way to go about them, JD or otherwise.
Just think about it, your average paint thinner JW Red is 40%, do you expect a bolder flavor from a 16+ whatever that is bottled at the same, or god forbid lower, ABV?

odd most bourbons are around 100 to 120 proof
