it's the reason mcdonalds exists you can get the same exact food no matter where you go. for some people (not me) having comfy food like their mom made is what they want. my mother-in-law was like that. she'd rather have a canned meal from cracked barrel then try a new indian restaurant. when I went with her family to chicago there were all these "family style" restaurants there. they were named different but they were all the same, same food, same atmosphere. she loved it.

here she was in chicago and did she try any of the better restaurants? nope. home style canned bland food was her thing. I didn't get it, but it made her happy.

This is something I noticed when I was dating a guy in his 50s. most people that age or older were raised on convenience food because their childhood was the rise of that type of food. now hardly any of them know how to cook, even the moms because they value convenience and ease of cooking as part of the process.
