Certain types of fig are male and female and so require a special breed of wasp to pollinate the females.

That wouldn't be as bad as 45 calories from something containing simple sugars like lollies or chocolate. Complex sugars in fruits are better for you than simple ones but don't over do it.
You can look up the carb (includes sugars) content of most foods with Google (search: "carbs in x" and it will tell you how many carbs per 100g is in that food) and use what you find to make informed choices about what to eat and when. You don't have to cut out high sugar fruits but save them for treats.

One thing I will suggest for your weight loss is intermittent fasting. I've struggled with weight issues and that has been the only thing to work. Left me feeling better than ever and you don't end up missing the junk you used to eat. You only miss junk when you're in the midst of a sugar addiction.
