I don't think canned tuna is worth it, maybe when it was like 50 cents a can but now it's almost $2 a can

Before Biden and the Chinese ruined the global economy Tuna was absolutely worth it. It still is. Last time I was at my supermarket I saw the tuna on sale for 75¢. I knew that shit was only gonna go up so I bought 20 cans no joke.

It's great if you wanna meal prep.

Wrong

>Drain tuna
>dump onto plate
>squeeze it by hand over the sink until it's very dry
>Finely dice onion and thinly sliced celery
>add soy sauce to vegetables
>add Hellman's mayo to the tuna
>mix veggies and tuna together
>chill

this is the best tuna. it's also jimmy John's recipe.

This is my own recipe I sometimes use

>tuna, mayo, Dijon, garlic salt or diced jarred garlic, salt and pepper, dash of Sriracha or Louisiana hot sauce, bunch of green onions- white and green parts, celery, shaved or julienned carrots are optional, eat on warm toasted rye, maybe with a slice of Swiss cheese

>> No.18034436

>>18034422
Wait I fucked up, you add the soy sauce to the dry tuna, or else the vegetables suck it all up. Tuna was to be very dry or it will end up soupy

Canned tuna is a total craps shoot now, too. Even the more expensive labels that I never had an issue with 10 years ago now have a 1/3 chance of being skunky with nasty dark red or grey mush from bad processing or lax quality control. The only stuff I still have confidence in being decent is even more expensive jarred stuff. Almost worth it to go all the way and just get good quality fresh tuna to sear at that point.

75 cent cans of tuna are the leftover boiled off flesh from the carcasses of thousands of tuna. They flavor it with soybean broth.

Quality tuna at its cheapest is like 2.50$ on sale. Chunk light anything is dogfood tier, plebtard.

>> No.18036966

>>18035072
Wild Planet and SafeCatch are the only brands of canned tuna I buy and they are very expensive. When they are on sale they are over half off, and a loss leader so I clean out the shelves. 5-7$ a can when not on sale, but whole steaks with fat.

Some EVOO brands in jars are solid, but those always end of getting clearenced.

>> No.18036972

>>18029984
It's only worth it if you get good quality tuna. I don't eat the stuff but I cook with it for others and will only give them the higher quality tunas (only one brand here). The lower quality ones are made with skipjack tunas which smell and taste the worst and a probably poorly prepared.
