Hi /ck/, I seek your wisdom in choosing a rice cooker. I'm mildly retarded and incapable of cooking rice in a normal pot. Following factors:
>user friendly (even a chimp could use it)
>guaranteed to make fluffy rice that is not under/overcooked.
>cook time doesn't matter. Could take an hour for all I care
>easy cleanup
>low-mid price range

I use calrose rice, if that even matters.

just pick one with a decent safety rating and a stainless steel inner pot so you dont have to worry about scratches, use boiling water if you think its too slow compared to the aluminium ones
Water to rice ratio is about 2 cups of water for 1 cup of rice, plus minus depending on how absorbent your rice is. If its undercooked, just pour a bit more water in and press the button again. Dont think too hard about it OP

I'll go ahead and recommend a brand I have not seen yet in this thread: Tatung. This is an old Taiwanese brand and I believe the rice cookers are still made in Taiwan. If they're made in China, disregard my recommendation.

The classic Tatung rice cookers have a white body with a black lid knob and are extremely durable. They only have one switch and don't have the fancy features of the Zojirushi but they are reasonably priced and durable.

>I want one of those models that has the cast iron bowl and is supposed to be like rice from a kamado.
Is that an older high-end Zojirushi model?
I also wanted one, but gave up on it because of its reputation for having a weak coating.
I think the reason is that by using cast iron, the heat of the pot itself is higher than usual, which increases the damage to the coating.

>I like brown rice
If you eat a lot of brown rice, you may want to choose Panasonic.
The fundamental technologies of pressure and IH are among the best in Japan, so even hard brown rice can be cooked well.
However, it is said that it is necessary to reduce the amount of water used to soften normal rice.
