Whole Foods bakery has been better than 2 of the local bakeries I've gotten cakes from. Personally I enjoyed the shitty homemade cakes as a kid since as long as the frosting had enough sugar I was happy.

I feel like, at least in my city/area/state, it seems like supermarkets have always struggled to find "cake decorators" it's an actual position in the bakery but I've been to some supermarkets and the cakes were really plain and boring looking. You'd be better off making a shitty looking cake and decorating it yourself.
