Basically correct. Any food that uses carbs as a delivery mechanism is a sandwich. Pizza is obviously a sandwich. Nigiri is a sandwich. Sashimi is not. Nachos are technically a plate of small sandwiches. An open faced turkey “sandwich” drowned in gravy is not a sandwich as you need a knife and fork to eat it. It would be closer to lasagna. If you’re the type of person to eat chicken and waffles this would also be the same, unless you lifted a waffle topped with boneless chicken with your hands, at which time it would be a sandwich.
