When I teach people to cook I always tell them to make a pan sauce/gravy with the burnt bits because it makes cleaning it so much easier. Half the time I don't even bother adding the sauce/gravy to my dish, the heat+liquid make cleaning it nothing and so I don't have to scrub my pan later.
