First check to make sure your fish aren't coming from china. Second make sure your fish is not in some kind of seed oil. I prefer brine but it's all a taste preference. Next figure out if you like smoked fish or not. Then try to figure out how often you want to eat fish. Personally I eat a 6.7oz can a day of smoked kipper. Regardless there are health benefits to fish oil and the supplements you can get are heavily oxidized so it's better just to get them from the fish itself. Anyway price wise the best deal I've found is doing subscribe & save with Bar Harbor brand on amazon while also using their visa card for 5% off and 5% cash back.

Do people actually enjoy Sardines or is it just a meme on /ck/ and they're actually just a basic foodstuff for extremely poor people? I've bought tons of deenz recently, I have like 50 cans of deenz because I know they're good for prepping and they are highly nutritious.

I first tried to eat a can of Beach Cliff Sardines about 2 years ago. The smell was so strong I immediately threw them in the garbage because they grossed me out. Still, I kept stacking deenz, often buying some at the store.

Recently I bought some off Amazon. The brand is "Matiz" and they are from Spain. From what I can tell, it's considered to be a high quality sardine. They just came in the mail, and I ate some today.

I toasted very good sourdough bread. Drizzled with olive oil. Put deenz on bread, put chives on top of deenz, then more olive oil and salt.

I was able to eat them, but I'd be lying if I didn't say it was kind of disgusting. Is it possible to teach yourself to enjoy deenz? I want to like deenz, because I know they are good for me. But it has such a nasty smell, even these high quality ones. For what it's worth, I also absolutely hate tuna, it's my least favorite fish and I cannot eat it. Deenz remind me of tuna.

I plan on trying those fancy portuguese ones in Tomato sauce to see if that's more palatable. But right now I kind of feel like a retard. I probably have at least $100 worth of deenz in my pantry. And if I can't find a way to make them taste good it'll be a total waste unless we have true food shortages and I need them to survive.

I'm also thinking about making a sandwich with cream cheese, cucumber, dill, onions, and deenz to see if that tastes better.

Does anyone have any good deenz recipes? Maybe something that would make even the cheapest most low quality deenz taste good? Should I just drown them in hot sauces?

I've tried beach cliff and they are nasty. The best use of low quality deenz like them is to put some in a sauce, stir fry, or stew. They'll break up and improve the meatiness of what you add them to but won't give it a particularly fishy taste unless you use way too much. The only downside is that it's not going to use up a huge stockpile very fast.
The only ones that I enjoy eating straight out of the can are king oscar spanish style. Those I can eat just with some rice, eggs, and kimchi as a genuinely enjoyable meal. Sardines in tomato sauce are also ok, but not my favorite.

King Oscar brisling sardines in olive oil are probably the best for the money and available everywhere. You can just eat them right out of the can at room temperature. The best thing King Oscar makes are the kipper snacks, but they suck if you try to eat them at room temperature right out of the can without buttered toast. The best sardines you can buy to eat warmed up IMO are the Nuri deenz in spiced tomato sauce (the ones in OP pic). They are also great on toast.

Fuck what the other guys said, start with the shittiest brand. Beach cliff tier. Next move to Wild Planet and after that King Oscar and Riga Sprats. After that move to Spanish sardines like Matiz, and then go for the best: Portuguese. Nuri is probably the best you'll find in stores.
If you start with the worst you'll truly know what constitutes a quality sardine and can make an informed decision on what you like best. You don't even need to finish the tin of a shit brand, just eat one sardine if it's too much for you. I will add that Greek sardines are tremendous as well. These are delicious, especially if you sauté some onions before hand and add the sardines to the pan
But I just put these over rice (which is boring IMO)

Get chicken of the sea sardines in lemon and olive oil, serve on toast and sour cream. They don’t taste overly smokey or fishy to me.

I don't want to take fish oil tablets. I genuinely want to enjoy sardines. I have been redpilled on sardines, I should be able to eat them. It's just such an overpowering smell and taste. I'm really hoping I can develop an affinity for them. When I ate the matiz on sourdough the other day, I put some cholula sauce on one and that seemed to help.

I can see why people would like them. Like, on an intellectual level I can understand that I was eating high quality sardines. But just damn I hate that fishy taste.

Finally got around to eating my Riga Gold sprats.
Definitely an interesting, Eastern European flavor. Thick canola oil that really coats the fish, tail intact, and something I didn't notice because it's only in the fine print- they're smoked. Rather decent smoked flavor to them though, good amount of salt and maybe a bit too much oil even after draining the tin but nonetheless good. Fish are pretty tightly packed in so you get a good serving size, two rows. I didn't count how many I got per row, just ate.
Will probably consider buying them again.

alright listen here you stupid idiots listen up because i need to tell you something ive been lurking these deenz threads for like 4 months now and frankly im disgusted that nobody has caught on to this

go mackerel fishing, its the most fun exciting fishing of your fucking life, especially if you are european and live at least an hour's drive from the sea, mackerel are beautiful wonderful fish that will hit little metal spoons hard and put up a fantastic scrap on a little 15 gram light lure rod and 10lb braid and oh my fucking god does fresh mackerel taste orgasmic the reason nobodys caught on to how fresh mackerel is the fucking tastiest thing the sea shits out is because nobody sells it as fresh as it can be if you caught it yourself and mackerel decays FAST!!!! i wouldnt be interested in eating mackerel thats spent even 1 day sitting in a warehouse like what you deenz bitches have to deal with

feasting on mackerel you caught yourself 6 hours before is fucking divine, its a relevation, its fat melt on your tongue, its like licking the pussy of the sea goddess, its so fucking good i cant even type it out, it makes duck and lamb quiver in fear they cant compete, you dont even fucking need to add anything to it, you don't need to salt it or anything, just fucking throw that baby on a pan and its sizzling in its own fat, how fucking good is that

it depresses me that you are all experiencing only a fraction of the pleasure i get from mackerel, please, please, please go buy a cheap light lure rod and get some 50mm 15 gram metal spoons with a single hook, with this you can cast out a good 100 to 150 yards, its a delight having this hard fighting fish bite your lure and your rod bending, they're beautiful fish too theyre like little blue tigers

there is a catch of course, mackerel are really only catchable in august/september/october so i suppose its not a fair investment when your rod is just sitting in your attic collecting dust in the other months but FUCK man!!!!
