What's the most humble meal you like to eat? For me it's an onion and mayo sandwich.

Deenz with bread and cheddar. Maybe a bit of hot sauce. My mom taught me the marinara sauce grandma used in the Great Depression too, just canned tomatoes, olive oil, garlic, and salt/pepper with pasta. Can be made for like $4.00 if using the cheapest ingredients possible.

Of course, I usually cut the bread rather thick so it's just bread, cheese, tomato + salt
Sometimes I drizzle on olive oil on all of it just cuz it looks / tastes nice.

Probably the most humble meal I had was when I was on the Camino de Santiago in 2005. I stayed in some monastery and the Abbot there gave out "sopa de ajo" or garlic soup which was essentially water soup with garlic and bread crumbs and oil.
It was pretty good though.

I don't know what you expected from this thread other than fifty different versions of bread with one topping.

For me, it's porkliver paté, which is very common and cheap here in Denmark.
Heat it up a little and it goes from a poor man's meal to a feast.

Is that actually cheap where you live?
The can in your photo would EASILY be $2.50 at my place, and that's if you shop around.
